Epiphone '310' Basketcase:

I'm seeing six individual saddles with six individual saddle adjustment screws. What am I missing, why not individually adjustable?

And not to be a jerk, but these are really cheap guitars. You can buy them on Reverb for like $150.
Epiphone T-310 Telecaster 80's Blonde

Why wouldn't he just buy another if he's willing to put a new neck on the thing? It's gotta be cheaper than parts and labor.

I looked at the photo again. You are correct, Gball, I thought it was the old "3 barrel" style.

Who knows? Sentiment? I do know, he's pretty tight too...:-)

Update:

The neck had a very pronounced negative bow when unstrung and measured with a feeler gauge.
As previously posted, the hex is stripped, but I was able to engage it with a long 27 Torx....it took almost 3/4 turn to get the board level!!!!!

If it were me, I would buy a $149 Ibanez from Guitar Sinner and move on.

Come to find out, the guitar belonged to his brother who passed a year and a half ago...sentiment I suppose.

I will do my best!

I suggested a new neck and a partial refret. Because it's his deceased brother's guitar, he ask that I try to preserve all the frets.

I turned it into railroad track....

Well done. That'll take him some getting used to but as anyone that has played a '70's Custom can attest, once you get used to them there is just nothing like the feel.

Thanks, Man...

I was going to leave them flat (like a LPC as you have pointed out, but thought I could get away with crowning....

Ok...I ground these frets a little on a descending taper - thinner at the nut and slightly thicker at the heel. This was because of the extensive damage on the first five frets.

Thoughts????

SWEET HOLY MOTHER OF EMAGEUNE WILSON you DID IT!

Thanks, Man...I can dig that he wants to keep the same frets his brother played, so I'm trying...by there ain't much left!!!

Just measured the frets - they are .031" off the wood at the nut and the graduate up to about .038" at the heel...

Will finish it up tomorrow. If anything ever needed frets, this one is it....but, I did what the fellow asked me to.

Hopefully the bridge saddles will drop enough. If it works, this will have very low action.

I worked on this from 2pm until 9pm...Tired!
