Ceriatone OTS Mini 20 Combo

Your amp is a Brown-Note copy. I'm no fan of Nik. Chad Tony and I reversed engineered Dumble ODS-100 #102 and #183
Chad took photos and voltage readings I built prototypes so did Chad Tony did layouts after posting the layouts Nik had them for sale.
We did put errors in the layout's just small things so they would not sound exact. Then we brought in John in John worked for Two-Rock
John designed the board sets and the power transformer EL-34 for ODS amps. Chad went crazy to many orders. Tony sucked me in on the Steel String Singer 100 amp
I sent him a board set that would be the #002 SSS-100 that John Mayer owns now. Then five amp builders had them on the market I felt betrayed by Tony.
Next was the SSS-150 amp it took me 3 years and $100k at the end of the day it sounded just like a Marshall Major. I have only built two amps since then.
#060 ODSR was for sale $60k I asked my business partner for a draw he went off the cuff that I would spend $60k on a guitar amp.
I had 1.85 million on the books at that time 10 years of work Wayne died I never did get my money But I do own the patients.
I do not sell guitar amps I build from scratch. I never did it for the money. Wayne did make a deal with me when I get back we will build a new shop 5.5 Million
we will split it 50/50 Wayne's wife Cathy wanted me to keep things going she used my money to pay off Wayne's new 65' boat and married two week's after Wayne's
death. Sorry about my rant. RVA if you want to improve your amp find a CTS 250k 2/35 taper audio pot used in Fender amps until 1984 for the treble.
That is quite a story Plexi!! Thank you for the tip too!

Ok, so here is a clip. I have a condenser pencil mic on the backing track, the Audix i5 about 2 feet away and one foot left of the top of the amp and a Sennheisser e609 hanging at the bottom of the speaker cone (see pic). I just screwed around with some modes, and I now notice this CONSTANT triple that I use as a filler when I play, which is very apparent in this clip, but I am posting it anyway

Broadway Joe --- he wore pantyhose ya know (they all did back them to stay warm in the frozen tundra of winter outdootr stadiums) but he did a comercial -- ;)

Big Fan -- he was a Bama alum. Played for the BEar-- I try not to hold that against him ---

great playing Ray really -- your getting like coffee house jazz club GOOD man --

send me the disgusting peavey mic stand Ill get ya a proper metal BOOM stand for your mic ;)

I don’t see how you could be too unhappy with that sound!
Tone is excellent, recording is excellent.
How are you liking the I5 so far?
Thanks! I am in love with the tone. It is the playing that I have an issue with!

I have only had the I5 home for 2 hours and this is my only experience with it. I wil reserve judgment for a solo clip with the mic, but it worked well here!

Will do.

BTW, this would be a good time for me to thank @Thatbastarddon for teaching me EVERYTHING I know about recording, partly by way of a few multi-hour phone training sessions. Thank you brother!!!!!!!!
I have to say, that clip may not please you from a playing standpoint....but from a recording standpoint, your guitar sounds like it is “in place”, and belongs in the mix with your backing track.
Good job sir!
Love the sound of the new amp here!

Thanks brother! The playing will come because I can hear what I want to change. And thanks to you, when I finally get it right, I can get it out there!

You asked...it’s my choice over a 57, 19 out of 20 times. Less strident, but very natural sounding...especially when close.
Stick one of your MXL mic’s 4 feet straight out, pointing at the speaker...pan the I5 20% left, and the MXL 60% right...mix to taste...maybe time delay the MXL track 22-30ms to spread things out, and I would wager you’d be impressed.
