Are You Obsessed With a Particular Band?

Nope. I've never been obsessed with a band. There are some I've really liked for various reasons, but never obsessed.

My musical tastes are too eclectic and mish-mashed to be too focused on a single band.

Being too obsessed with a single band would be like cutting off the rest of your fingers because you thought your thumb was most important.

Being obsessed doesn't mean you only focus on the one and ignore all others. That would just be ridiculous and near fanatical.
What I mean is one band that you gravitate too more than others. A band you want to get to know the players and delve deeper
into what makes them tick and there motivations for song writing and playing.

I love many many bands and many genres of music. You would be quite surprised at the volume and diversity of my music collection...

Actually, that is pretty consistent with what the word, "obsessed" means.

From Dictionary.com:

to dominate or preoccupy the thoughts, feelings, or desires of (a person); beset, trouble, or haunt persistently or abnormally:

Regardless, the answer is still, "No." There may be bands that I like more than others. If nailed down, I suppose my favorite rock band would be Deep Purple...or Pink Floyd...nope...I'm sure of it...it's U2. Like I said, without a doubt, it's....

You must have missed my earlier post where I said I think I use too strong of words in my posts...

...trying to look one up is not working. Infatuated...no, too short term. Enamoured...no, sounds like I'm in love. Maybe captivated? Intrigued? Fan Boy...

I dig this....even though my tastes are not as diverse.

In that case.....perhaps OZZY is an obsession -- I owned all his albums -er tapes---er cds -- or WTF ever was "in" at the time-- followed him all the way through Sabbath (which I also like) and even watch his GOOFY reality shows-- including the recent Ozzy & Jacks world tour series----- so--- there ya go

Same could be said for KISS -- I have followed (ignopred duiring the really suckfest 90's era) and kept track of all the members -- songs work-- contributions bands etc.... Even watched Genes show for a while years ago-- since I was at least 10 years old---
----and I am one day going to score a Gene Simmons AXE Bass and or an Ace Frehley LEs Paul--the CHibson knock off of course--I mean--- come on ....its how ACE would do it!

Led Zeppelin again owned every bit of recording they released -- follow the band--- the members -- solo careers -- youtube videos et all to this day and still will go to my grave thinking John Paul Jones is the greatest bass player EVER--- and perhaps maybe a distant relation???? Hey -- could be---

SO o.k.

Very early on, I was introduced to AC/DC. This was around 1975. I was always wanting to know everything about the artists and the gear they used, but back then, everything was really obscure. I got hooked on Scorpions for a long period of time too, searching for every tidbit of details I could find. My interest in Motörhead followed in 1980, and Def Leppard was studied too as we played nearly all of their songs. I recall being floored by the production quality of Leppard's 'Pyromania' and listened to it for hours upon end, studying every nuance and trying to replicate them.

Probably Motörhead is the band that held the greatest amount of fascination for me, as my natural style seemed to be more heavy handed and they had a less polished, live tone that appealed to me....

Now you get it!

In my teens I guess I was pretty obsessed with Van Halen, but it was not like I didn't listen to other things. Reading about Eric Clapton through interviews with Eddie Van Halen turned me on to blues music, and at times blues music in general has been a sort of obsession. But in general I just go through phases where I listen to one particular artist more than others, sometimes just because I happen to like the music, and sometimes to study the music a bit more in depth. For the past couple of years, I have had a particular thing for Peter Green, but during that time I have also had periods where I have listened a lot to guys like Michael Schenker (mainly the stuff he did with UFO) and Kid Andersen. And I keep returning to The Allman Brothers (Duane, Dicky and Derek, mainly), B. B. King, Freddie King, Eric Clapton and the J Geils Band. The latter was somewhat of an obsession throughout my 20s, I suppose.

We’ve been playing together for around 37-38 years. We’ve probably written 80+ songs together over those years. We’ve earned the right to be curmudgeonly to each other.

Ahh, now I see. This is like a popular lawyers commercial here in Lost Angeles where he ends the commercial with "no one looks good in hand cuffs, unless you're into that sorta thing"

Let's put it this way Sp8, I have a list of sites icons on my home page that somehow get saved. So, while I've gone to you tube 100's of times, it somehow saved it as this. Anytime I click on the icon I have to start here. This is for you.

I can hear every nuance in this recording as if it is part of my being. I mean Richard Wright's keys, Nick's killer Paiste Rude cymbals, The ringy chords, Gilmour plays, and his searing leads,, plus Roger's driving thumping hypnotic bass. One of the sickest songs ever recorded in my mind.
