Anyone here play a Gretsch?

didnt know the electromatics came in a USA made option(?)

Yeah, I'm curious about that, too.

Interestingly, Gretsch's first electric guitars that they made in 1939 were given the name "Electromatic". But, that's ancient history. I was unaware of any current-model USA-made Electromatics, either.

By the way, I think the name "Electromatic" is one of the coolest names for a guitar line, ever!

@smitty_p

It's just the pickguard used.

@eSGEe - is yours a bolt-on neck???

I find this to be the only Gretsch I have found appealing.

USA made. Solid body. Set neck. Surprisingly light. Superior bridge....

Very pretty, but......... That Heel! That is evil, and needs to go. When I built my Billy-Bo, I stuck with the standard Gretsch style heel. After it was all glued together and I was doing the final shaping of the neck, I put the heel to the belt sander. It had to go.

It's much better now.

Looks like a great job.

The heel doesn't bother me, regardless of shape, but I'm a Les Paul/EDS-1275 player, so maybe I'm used to it????

Yeah I hate hard shrp heels. I can live with the Les Pauls but the Epi ES1275 doubleneck was atrocious. Sharp, thick, no high fret access. Terrible design.
The Modern LP series have a nicely sculpted joint.

Actually, as is my Ibanez ARX500 made in China not that it matters. Very well made, beautiful wood, even the knobs and control cavity covers are wood. An excellent little guitar and a very nice neck joint.

I am in a different world when I play...I've cut my hand open sliding violently down the neck on a Floyd Rose nut and finished the set.

I tend to burn the meat off my index finger on a 6 hour bar set (2 sets of 50 minute triples) and its just part of the game. I'll have to clean blood and little pieces of meat off the guitar the next day, but to me, that energy level is worth every second, because people can feel it.

I'm 100% comitted...totally lost...I don't even feel pain...but, for me, it's a way of life, not just a hobby.

The EDS-1275 is kinda chunky, but I can do things on that guitar that others tell me can't be done because of access, number of frets, etc., and don't forget I've got classical width necks on it.

It's just putting one's mind to the task at hand.

Hell, Man, I'd dig a pipeline ditch with a plastic spoon if the price was right....

Come to think of it, from a musical perspective, I have...

no mines set neck
V stop bar .... identical blacktop (china made) pickups --identical knobs identical bridge

Are you sure you got the right pic??? Im sure the custom shop WOULD make a 4k gutiar look like a 500.00 one but what customer would want that?

this is a 500.00 electromatic in walnut stain and a laurel board -- lower cost knobs (not the ruby ones on a USA gretsch) ---are you sure you didnt just post the wrong pic ?

--- or did you accidentally fall in love with a CHINESE GRETSCH??? ;) ;) (kinky)

Well I sure dont wanna turn this into some kinda pissing contest at all, not my intent, but I also give it 100% when I play. I jump aroumd and generally get right into it because I enjoy myself so much. I love playing out energy is infectious. Even though it is just a "hobby" to me.
I used to play Lay it On the Line w the 1275, it can be done but very awkward. Why make it painful? I ditched that guitar.
That said, I again am not sure how the money has anything to do with it? I enjoy playing no matter how much or even IF I am getting paid so as I assume literally every member here. The price is always right to me. Being paid doesn't put one in a different league than anyone else as has been discussed in prior threads.
Not really relevant to neck joints.
Someone tell me please if I am being outta line. Not my intent to offend. Just trying to clarify.
