Sapi, where you been ?

@ibmorjamn is fully in on Main Event "Metalmorphosis" with an overtly Sabbath-influenced
version of "Disco Inferno" by the Trammps. Now I would have liked to have heard more of lyrical
content, at least twisted up a bit, but vocals were not a 100% requirement, and it definitely passes
the "Disco" sniff test for a bonus point, so minimum 6, but lets see how it scores in the vote coming
in a half a week! Great Iommi tone on that guitar, and the little drum break adds nice dynamics,
It's funny to imagine Geezer playing disco/funk bass but someone once said on a forum he was
pretty adept at that style, in secret. You did a nice job on the lead stuff sir, and the challenging
bass work is damn solid!

There are now THREE members of the Superstar Crew! @Ku² @LiveeviL2000 and myself

WHO DONE WHAT SO FAR FOR ROUND 8?

ONLY FOUR DAYS
remain for the "Metalmorphosis" Main Event
3 days remain for the "Tranquility Base" challenge submissions

Summertime is taking it's toll on RiffMasters!
By my count only FOUR Main event submissions so far,
four "Tranquility" submissions, five "Trick Bag" submits.

>>> How You Can Take Part < < <
At least one “METALMORPHOSIS” Round 8 Main Event submission (post 4681 ) is due in this RiffMasters thread Weds. August 28, 7PM.

if you don't get one in, you WILL NOT be eligible for the Round 8 Main Event Community Vote.

Try the "TRANQUILITY BASE" Side Hustle for an easy 3, possibly 1 or 2 more! (Post 4789). Due August 27, 7pm. Trank goes to community vote for bonus points.
And don't forget to take a stab at the "Trick Bag" Guitar Duel for a guaranteed one, up to six points (post 4725) it's due august 30 7pm

ALL RiffMasters challenges are open to any TTR member, no matter how extremely over-talented you claim you are, just check the rules in the original
game post, then drop your submission in this thread. Remember, when virtual fruit is thrown your way, it WILL NOT STAIN YOUR CLOTHES and may
be returned! The only fail possible is NOT taking part in this fun and creative musical safe space!

Before Round 8 is complete you can earn all kinds of points just for trying! But once again, it's not really about points!
It's about creatin', participatin' and sharin' with fun forum friends, and maybe even poking 'em with a pointy stick too,
if you want, (not too hard tho, let's try to remain friends).

NOTE there are two votes imminent.. One for "Tranquility Base" challenge for bonus points, then one for the "Metalmorphosis" Main event.

I appreciate the awesome critique.
It took me a couple weeks to get the bass line fluent. The guitar I revised the night I finished. So the guitar tracking was all done (several tracks) over the rhythm track I had previously recorded the week before , in about 2 hours. 5 weeks is a lot of time. I did so many versions and disliked nearly all of them.

I was going to do more lyrically but time is a factor and for that reason I did not. I barely cracked the surface on the AI vocal stuff and that becomes a deep dive.

My wonderful wife is my greatest critic, she said ” It doesn’t sound like Disco Inferno” I said “ It’s not suppose to” lol
I could have covered it more faithfully but this was more fun.

Not gonna lie, been living a bit of a stressful existence the past few weeks so this was a pretty
interesting exercise to just slow down, and get in that "hot tub" musical vibe.

my Chapter 8 Side Hustle submission for "A-yo Rivah!" is called "Calmer Times"
Three guitar layers, one acoustic, one electric with heavy FX chorus, reverb,
one layer 'o lowdown Tranquility bass to help your mind relax and just float downstream.

The river vid

"Calmer Times"

Very nice man. Life has been hectic for me lately too so this side hustle is timely for sure!

Well done Tv!

Thank you my fellow RiffMasters. Simple little thing really. Cheaped out and just digitally repeated one pass of the fingerstyle three times but the "sighing breeze" and the bass were full live pass.
There's string noise and some glitchy level issues but I banged it up it in about 40 minutes last night to get my submission in under the wire. Strings on my acoustic pretty caked and dead too but that minimizes squawks a bit.

Came up with the main theme while camping last weekend sittin' on the shore of calm waters... loons were laughing on the lake (at my playing?) while working it out. Actually recorded some, considered adding them in but I don't think loons ever spend much time on rivers.

My rhythm and timing is normally not great, and even worse when I have no drums to sync to. Seem to have trouble playing to a click... I hear it for a bar or two but then my brain loses track while concentrating on fingering, and I have to constantly catch up or fall back. I find It does help a little if I tap a toe for 20 seconds or so prior to, and during recording to establish tempo.

Two days remain to get your Tranquility on my brothers!!

Awesome!

RVM drops a dandy relax track complete with edited natural avian stock footage...all pianowy melody with synth strings flowin' and sweepin' harmonically behind. I'm not much a keyboardist so cannot really comment on the virtuosity level of the fingering, but it sounded pretty great to me and made me jelly I can't do that stuff my ownself!... now we have a real contest in the vote coming up in a couple nights... fantastic job @Randy Van Malmsteen

@Randy Van Malmsteen is my most-feared threat truth to tell. Little is known about him, other than he once threw a football clean over a mountain to take out a wolverine that was threatening a supermodel.
Well instead of a mountain, it was more like a grassy knoll. And it wasn't a football, it was a remaining chunk of a cinder block from when an 7.62 round shattered most of it.
But let's clarify something, once and for all: the brick took out the model. And rightfully so. SHE was the instigator.... some highly misplaced confidence to be sure. No-fault divorce, division of assets, child support and alimony? What a lack of situational awareness.
Now, that little fella has turned out be a kindred spirit, and way more loyal and helpful than you could ever imagine. A real can-do attitude.
Some douchbags in the neighborhood who have Rotties, Cane Corsos and pitpulls asked me what kind of dog he was. All those dogs got whiny, anxious, and skittish when they saw Eugene. Now I'll admit that he smells pretty musky, but after a couple weeks, it grows on you. Who am I to challenge 100,000 years of genetic refinement and natural selection?

Nope. Won’t watch. Did not like the movie first (and only) time I watched it. Still freaks out when I see more that three crows flying over our house.

@Ben Waylin while that track would be ideal for say, the late night sports show highlight package music bed, it does not qualify for any the three current challenges.

RiffMasters was devised to stretch us out of comfort zones with themed "tests" many of which get voted on. It also levels the playing field a bit and gives our adventure some structure.

I do suggest you reserve that rockin' track... it may be well-suited for a future challenge.

The current three challenges are (links to the rules of each in yella).

Now as a new member you may be thinking "RULES? SCHMOOLS!" Then this event may not be for you.
Because it's a fairly complex "event" and keeping track of submissions for the regular votes, I do ask that all musical submissions dropped in this thread be on theme, and posted with respect to the structure of the event. If you wish to post random musical creations, there are other avenues on The Tone Rooms to do that, and i know they will all be heard and appreciated!

I try hard to bring forth fun challenges that are both tasty and musically nutritious, even though it's rather apparent I am not an accomplished musician. Moving forward soon, game participants will have opportunities to drop your own themed challenges for to test the mettle of your fellow competitors.

If you have any questions, please ask... but first I do suggest you click on the challenge post links above.

im just a guitar player

@Ben Waylin because we are very near the end of Round eight, (one vote begins tomorrow night, another Tues. evening) you may wish to lurk a bit to get the flow and vote for your faves!
I believe you might have fun with "Trick Bag" though, the deadline is Thursday at 7PM CST... It'll give you a chance to flex large and send a message to us all, while allowing you to not only play your guitar, but abuse it like a rented Prius
