Announcing... RiffMasters!

I had to transpose up a whole step and retrain my brain and fingers, lol. (I threw in part of Flying High Again solo at the end, too)
Wow, he was already pretty far up the fretboard in parts of that solo, going up a step?
24 fret or 22?

@Ku² dumps his "Metalmorphosis" tune on us, "Good Times" by Chic reworked lyrically, stylistically, thematically, into a cynical, dark and foreboding apocalyptic missive. Very interesting, a jarring juxtoposition of such a cover with the joyful disco handclaps cheering on the total destruction of all we hold dear.

Then, he works in a bunch of tasty Randy licks as a serious exclamation point which are probably gonna make @Randy Van Malmsteen a little jelly. Definitely qualifies for the extra disco point, and taking the video work into account, could be the very best thing that has come out of Riffmasters so far in the game. Quite amazing, and super creative, a metal/disco fusion sort of deal. We shall see how the voting weighs it.

@Ku² - as per the original Chapter 8 Challenge post, can I ask you to please also edit your original submission post to place the original video along with your reworking of it? Thank you.

Sorry, EXTREMELY busy days here in the shop, not sure what happened suddenly, but my little venture seems to have blown up a bit this week,
and I yesterday managed to get myself suddenly kidnapped from my shop by an old boss of mine and forced to go golfing, at almost the very worst time possible LOL! Sometimes you just can't say "No!"

There are now three MetalMorphosiseses in play, and I know both ibmorjamn and liveevil2000 have submissions waiting in the wings too.

LFG fellas, time is running out!

"as per the original Chapter 8 Challenge post, can I ask you to please also edit your original submission post to place the original

WOW, what a review @TVvoodoo !!! Many THANKS!!!

@TVvoodoo

This is not going to be as impressive as Good Times but here it goes.
I think I used the Triple Rec amp model. I changed the intro and many original notes within the scale.
Audimee is the AI service for the vocal. The vocal is 30% AI from my vocal.

It has a Black Sabbath vibe and the solo has a total Brian May vibe. You used AI for the vox with your voice? I'm going to have to look into trying that. Well played! I appreciate the sentiment too.

@ibmorjamn is fully in on Main Event "Metalmorphosis" with an overtly Sabbath-influenced
version of "Disco Inferno" by the Trammps. Now I would have liked to have heard more of lyrical
content, at least twisted up a bit, but vocals were not a 100% requirement, and it definitely passes
the "Disco" sniff test for a bonus point, so minimum 6, but lets see how it scores in the vote coming
in a half a week! Great Iommi tone on that guitar, and the little drum break adds nice dynamics,
It's funny to imagine Geezer playing disco/funk bass but someone once said on a forum he was
pretty adept at that style, in secret. You did a nice job on the lead stuff sir, and the challenging
bass work is damn solid!

>>> How You Can Take Part < < <
At least one “METALMORPHOSIS” Round 8 Main Event submission (post 4681 ) is due in this RiffMasters thread Weds. August 28, 7PM.

if you don't get one in, you WILL NOT be eligible for the Round 8 Main Event Community Vote.

Try the "TRANQUILITY BASE" Side Hustle for an easy 3, possibly 1 or 2 more! (Post 4789). Due August 27, 7pm. Trank goes to community vote for bonus points.
And don't forget to take a stab at the "Trick Bag" Guitar Duel for a guaranteed one, up to six points (post 4725) it's due august 30 7pm

ALL RiffMasters challenges are open to any TTR member, no matter how extremely over-talented you claim you are, just check the rules in the original
game post, then drop your submission in this thread. Remember, when virtual fruit is thrown your way, it WILL NOT STAIN YOUR CLOTHES and may
be returned! The only fail possible is NOT taking part in this fun and creative musical safe space!

Before Round 8 is complete you can earn all kinds of points just for trying! But once again, it's not really about points!
It's about creatin', participatin' and sharin' with fun forum friends, and maybe even poking 'em with a pointy stick too,
if you want, (not too hard tho, let's try to remain friends).

NOTE there are two votes imminent.. One for "Tranquility Base" challenge for bonus points, then one for the "Metalmorphosis" Main event.

ALL RIFFMASTERS, wannabe RIFFMASTERS
and all valued Adventure Watchers!

8b491183-1a82-49be-b121-b54efd74f008_text.gif

RiffMasters was initially devised to go 10 5 week rounds with only the Main Event Challenges and the Guitar Duels to be a musical race to 100 points after one year of friendly, fun competition.

It seemed to me shortly into the adventure the pace was a bit slow and people were hungry for more challenges so I added in the "Side Hustle" challenges fairly early in, injecting the availability for many more points, which kind of
screwed up the big game plan, but also made the game MUCH more fun and interesting to follow.

Honestly, for myself, I am having a bit too much fun, and the forced-motivation to put my gear to use
seems rather useful and healthy for my life in general and I know many of you may feel the same.

So, in light of that, I propose we NOT end the game at 100 points, and just go the full ten rounds. Then, the highest score after Main Event 10, will be declared Champion V.1. At that point we can decide also to start again from ZERO points at round Eleven (with brand new challenges), with the goal to possibly declare a new Champ after Round 20.

Are you up for that?

I think what might be a good idea is to have the RiffMasters first Event Champion, choose, concoct, devise Main Event #11, the LOW Vote of each Main Event going forward will then choose the next Main Event, not from pre-selected categories, but from inside their own imagination. If they feel unable to do that, that duty will then defer to second lowest and so on, keeping with the general flow established thus far. This way we can all continue on having fun making music, sharing, duelling, hustling, cheering, jeering, gathering points and just plain having fun.

I can continue coming up with Guitar Duels, they will all be the same score (20/10) and Side Hustles, or we can go with the previous WINNER of the duel to be given the duty to choose the next duel theme also, I can guide if they need assistance. I would like to retain Side Hustles, I think what I will probanly do is hybridize it a bit with GAME OF TOANZ style challenges such as devising an album cover, coming up with concept album ideas, writing lyrics, stuff like that to keep the thread fresher and funner. Some will be musical as well - just want mix things up a bit.

Also open to suggestions, but I believe the RiffMasters Musical Adventure should remain fully open-ended, drop-in, drop out, low pressure, and a brotherly musical safe space for all skill levels to be able to take part, and cheer each other on in making fresh music, developing our creative and tech skills etc. It's only to the benefit of us all personally and for the TTR community as a whole

What say all y'alls?

Not gonna lie, been living a bit of a stressful existence the past few weeks so this was a pretty
interesting exercise to just slow down, and get in that "hot tub" musical vibe.

my Chapter 8 Side Hustle submission for "A-yo Rivah!" is called "Calmer Times"
Three guitar layers, one acoustic, one electric with heavy FX chorus, reverb,
one layer 'o lowdown Tranquility bass to help your mind relax and just float downstream.
