Most of us began our guitarman journey as young bucks! Perhaps you thought music would be a cool way to impress friends or gain yourself a little edge with the ladies. Maybe you just plain wanted to rock out, like bands you were diggin’, to release pent-up young man energy. Maybe you were just a dang musical prodigy!

Did you take lessons? A friend or older brother coach you? However it happened, as part of most every beginner experience, you eventually graduated to actually be able to stumble *almost* through a whole song. What a huge confidence builder! Soon enough, after more struggles, you managed another, then even another. Wowee! You kind of actually became a guitar player. Imagine that!

“Opening Act” allows you to travel way back in time, past years ‘n years of busted strings 'n hurtin' fingers to a time when we were actually probably even worse than we are today, LOL! Now, all of us together, we each get to share the beginnings of our guitar adventure!

Your challenge:
1. Reveal to your TTR Brothers in a few sentences what inspired YOU to play guitar, how it all began. Maybe tell us about the first gear you had, a fledgling band fail, whatever. It’s all going to be of interest, pretty sure on that!
2. List the first three songs you can remember being able to play through, reasonably recognizable.
3. Choose ONE of those selections and give us a minimum 1:00 clip of how you’d play it now!

Bang it out on acoustic, or produce it up all you wanna. Audio, or audio/video. Your choice. Most of all, please have fun with it and enjoy your trip back into history! Five weeks to deadline from today.
*** COUNTDOWN ***

*** RiffMaster Main Events are open to ALL TTR members, to share in the fun and score points! ***
Not going to tell people HOW to post or judge, but the whole package you enter may make a difference in the end.

Once you post, NO Editing of the musical selection, or the rest of the deets, so BE SURE!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Event Scoring:
48 hour Community Vote once all submissions are in.
Top Vote Earner = 10 points
Second & Third places = 7 points each.
Participation Award: All other competitors who submit entries = 5 points.
In the event of ties, earliest submission wins top position.

We all begin at “Busker.” As your points grow, you will ladder up through several fun new designations.

@Clockworkmike you bravely entered RiffMasters as the very first to sign on! In addition to the sure to be exciting Main Event, you also have ONE week to challenge any other pre-registered competitor to an awesomely entertaining “Guitar Duel.” After naming that lucky competitor, you get to choose a surprise theme from the Guitar Duel board, and learn how many points it'll be worth to the both of you.

If you fail to challenge, the 12AX7 demon will be summoned to blow up all your beautiful glowy tubes. It will not pay to run from a
Guitar Duel challenge! Even if you lose, as long as you take a shot at it, you still score highly valuable RiffMaster points.

Once the Guitar Duel Gauntlet is thrown and the field of battle chosen, I’ll explain further on Guitar Duel rules, scoring & penalties.

Everyone, I HIGHLY suggest you "WATCH" this thread and bookmark this post for future quick reference, (find your bookmarks in your profile).
I say this only to help you keep up in the game. These threads get VERY chaotic, so it's nice to know where to find stuff quick.

First off Mr. @TVvoodoo How did you build the Riffmasters “Guitar Duel “ board ?
Did you do all of the graphics from scratch?
If so, not sure I have that.

I do think the first challenge would be “Next Step” after your humble beginnings what song set you moving forward ?

I am going to begin gathering the info starting with a the guidelines .

9.:Welcome: I am thinking maybe no full pre-recorded backing tracks except for drums.
Anyone have concerns on regulations?
I did change it to 6 months, 6 main challenges. It’s going to take a while for me to compile this, maybe a couple of weeks.
I am going to do a crash course on graphic design.

Yes, from scratch.

What I did was set up a graphic with all the board challenges in a base layer with photo layering software like p-shop. Then another layer over top with a covering over all the windows. As they were chosen, I would erase the covering over the chosen window and export that new graphic as a jpeg.

9.:Welcome:
I can’t even post pictures anymore..
I am just technically challenged, and I am tired of fighting my smart phone, but I do feel the game brings a lot of variety to the forum and quite a few members like to participate.

Bring it on @ibmorjamn
Mitch , even though you only use your phone , you have done a great job participating.

I will work on it, if I can pull that off.
I won’t be using Adobe, they have to many zero’s behind their dollar signs.lol
Possibly “Blender” , it can edit video or animations.

If you want me to send you the base board from last game ready so you can fill in the blanks, might make it easier for you.
Sure , I’ll pm you. It must have taken a little bit of time to do the design work besides running it. Do you think that it is reasonable to do 6 main challenges?
