Announcing... RiffMasters!

Ladies and Gentleman, rare vintage 1962 @Mitch Pearrow SJMP with his first guitar.

You can see even at a very young age he was already deeply torn between blue collar money-making type work,
and his artful guitar playing. Unfortunately he never quite figured it out
I would have been 4! years old in 62..
Ha Ha

@ibmorjamn mistakenly thought it was the Bay City Rollers (BCR) did that one in the mid 70s,
so my bad, got the wrong group. So actually, I did guess the song?

I was only a year off on Jethro's, though Troopers' "Raise a little Hell" is easily
ten times the song "Calling Dr. Love" is.

@Mitch Pearrow SJMP my apologies for being 3 years off in the Guess My Age game, but seriously,
how can you blame me? You look so young still! Forgot to account for the California vampire effect

Ok, so maybe this is the weekend you finally flip those amps off standby and rock out.
Even your gear is probably weary of the excuses!

FRIENDLY REMINDER TO ALL Y'ALLS

NOT A CLOSED FIELD OF PLAY!

Anyone Anyone ANYONE!!!!!! is welcomed to jump in, try a lay-up or two,
and enjoy some fun and musical exercise. You too will also earn points! Probably maybe even
like it enough to keep on, keepin' on! Plus, you can duck out of any main challenge you wish
along the way. But if you start now, my hope is you'll be infected with the fun of being here
to share and enjoy all this time together.

At the very least you may find yourself a tad inspired, and inspire others to also join in!

believe in yourself.gif

The first Main Event Challenge #1 "Opening Act" is so super easy! All you gotta do is simply:
1. Tell us what inspired you to first pick up the guitar
2. List the three first songs you "mostly" learned.
3. Share with us a minimum 1:00 musical clip performing one of them.

ELEVEN DAYS REMAIN UNTIL DEADLINE for this round... That's still PLENTY of time for a 1:00 clip
I wanted to design this game for maximum forum member participation. Far more fun to be involved!

The "Opening Act" winner will earn 10 RiffMaster points. 1st / 2nd runners-up, 7 points each.
Anyone else who posts an applicable musical submission of 1:00 or more, earns an automatic 5 points.

The RiffMasters game goes to 100 pts. But let's not make it so much about that, but more about
brotherly forum participation, sharing our enjoyment of music, testing ourselves and putting the gear to work.

Yep. But I did not know any chords obviously to start and had a KISS music book. You couldn't buy a Trooper one and I didn't know how to play so figuring out be ear was impossible. It took me about 4 days after school to learn Dr. It will all come out later when I post. Trooper became a staple after a year or 2 though. Still is.

First song I probably played all the way through was around 1978, on my Takamine acoustic with 2 other guys playing in my living room. No clue on what it was. Most likely a John Denver song. :rolf:

Ok Don, I feel you with the Denver hits, I also admitted that earlier and the other two first songs, and your musical submission is... where?
We will accept the Heart and Soul, piano submission, if you dare. Still worth 5 points minimum. But can you stretch out that riff to over a minute, but isn't that where you'd need another person to play it with? I guess I could have brought it with chopstix

Yes most of us mastered "Hot Cross Buns" or "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on the recorder or whatever in Grade 3.
I started playing cornet/trumpet at age 11 several years before I was attracted to guitar.
For all intensive purposes, the majority here would agree The Tone Rooms celebrates guitary music,
So that would be the ideal. However, if you wish to submit your finest tootley-dootley, or tinkly-winkly music on the
instrument of your choice, I would still categorize it as a form of music, nobody can stop you - Automatic 5 points.

Just DON'T show us your legs!

Good choice as well. Glam it up. The problem with BCR is thrashers seem to loathe Glam. Not that matters I guess. ZI don't identify as any one thing other than I guess classic metal ? Wait , let's not go there....

Very soon I will reveal the track . I am growing weary of all the multi-tracks I have in my DAW. It's about time to reveal the song. The computer was getting a bit warm with the multiple programs running. I suppose the DAW takes up some power processor wise.

After working on Vocals and guitar tracks , adding drums. I really hate to think about Bass but I guess the whole process has helped my knowledge of doing these things from scratch. Not using the all of the allotted time is going to be a huge factor.
It's not rocket science they. Lol
