Amplifier service

I hate to say it, but the Quilter products get really good reviews by those who actually have them.

Investing in a Kemper system will be obviously much steeper, but it is cream of the crop in solid state technology.

I've been thinking about a Kemper system to replace all of my (7) tube amps for the last two years. It would certainly free up a ton of realty space. But...... I get silly-ly sentimental with my stuff. And the DNA of some of my amps are in my sweat, blood, and tears... literally! I've been zapped at least a dozen times by at least 5 of my amps. Till death do us part... :dood:

Quilter makes amps too....

I have played several and all seemed to be of great quality....

Yes... these are nice. I recently worked on one that was about 30 years old. Very impressed with the build and quality. The stereo chorus is like a dream. It takes pedals very nicely. You'll definitely need the right overdrive pedal if you want a fat and singing overdrive tone.

That's always been the deal-breaker for me....dirt pedals....

I understand. It will be very difficult to part with my beloved JVM, but it is time.

OH JUST GET A MESA! -- its all you need....this plus your quad decker pedal board should get any tone a Kemper can think of --- and in STYLE ;)

Ha ha.... The Kemper can profile this amp, too. RVA will have to bring his new Kemper Profiler into a store that sells new Boogies and connect the Kemper to the California Tweed for a few minutes... "Thanks for your time, guys!"

P:lol:P:lol:P:lol:

So seriously is there NOTHING the Kemper CANT copy?

AND has anyone here A/B'ed it to the stuff ti claims to mimic to determine if it does?

I mean Ive onwed --crap 100 -- cheap modeling amps and some NOT so cheap ones--but---is the 68 Fender tone ----REALLY a 68 Fender tone -- HOW THE FOOK do I know????
Im guessing a 12" TWIN cabinet --- sounds WAAAAAY different than an 8" speaker---- so --yes this is probably NOT the 68 Fender "tone" really ----is it "esque" --or "close" sure-- but we are talkinga 100.00 Fender Mustang-- or Vox VT 20 -- NOT a KEMPER at roughly 2 grand.......

I’ve just gotta say; When I had a Marshall JCM900 poof the magic smoke, and flame, I just stopped using Marshall tube amps. That was in 1989. I don’t know what caused the component fail on mine, but it was a memorable event. I had never abused it, or knocked it around. It was my first “good amp”, and I was very disappointed. I kept my little SS Lead 12 (that I already had pre-JCM900) for a long time, then gave it to one of my band mates sons. He still uses it. The only repairs done on the Lead 12 have been capacitor replacements.
I did stick with tube amps though...they have a place here.
Just no actual modern Marshalls for me thanks.
They can sound great, are a historical voice in rock based music, and look mighty cool. There’s something about a gold top leaning against a Marshall that oozes “cool” to me...
But I don’t think I’m going to own another one.

Chappers is fooled, even with regard to a profile of his own amp. That said, no thanks. Time to keep it simple. A nice SS that I can throw against the wall and it will work. The Quilter fits that bill. I looked at the Katanas but I think the build quality of the Quilters justifies the extra dough.

I agree the Quilter is better than a Katana---Katana sounds great but is very LIGHT

but--
IF you want a good SOLID STATE amp with excellent power and reliability -- that you can ACTUALLY -- no B.S. THROW against a WALL and still work?????
