The pure hate for dogears from one single person astounds me.
That would be you Ray...
It's almost like a racial thing against the poor unassuming dog ear.
My oh my.
It just saddens my heart that one's views are so one sided as to not even concede that everyone has different tastes.
It's like the Spanish Inquisition. "Off with they're heads"
Such hate is unhealthy for ones outlook.
But take the same pickup and add adjusting screws, as in a soapbar and all is forgiven???
As a defender of the underdog I can only hope the mighty forces of nature will prevail and help ones understanding of the
blind injustice that the poor dogear has incurred.

I will concede that some prefer form over function. Thus, you may want your vintage looking dog ear over a cover that can perform in a superior manner, giving you what the dog ear can and more. I have nothing but empathy for those who chose to live this way. I direct my angst toward those who poisoned your mind with this predilection that ultimately will bring harm to my brothers, like the pretty/handsome, yet lazy and evil spouse. Yep.....I would say it's you. Because you fail to accept any concept besides your own .....I have no problem receiving ....tuning.....and playing a guitar without touching it with a wrench.....rewiring exchanging pups....tuners.... essentially rebuilding the entire guitar
While I commend and admire your desire and ability to do these things .....I don't have that desire. I rarely keep things long enough to warrant the time and investment....perhaps one day I will have the time and money to rework all of them.........but I doubt I will see the need.
Ya being on a budget stopped most of my modding madness so now i live my guitar modding life vicariously through RVA

looks black to me------ why dont you grasp its not that important to me.......if I pick up the guitar and I like the way it sounds --- I am FINE with that. I am one and whole and confident in the happiness with that guitar and the world is good. No need to adjust tinker strip rebuild and improve---
I get you dont "get it" but --- you will not change the level of which I dont give a crap about certain aspects of my own gear--- so why try ???
I got this one a few months back
Sounds great -- set ups great--- havent touched it with a wrench -- changed strings cleaned and oiled fret board--- done. Most liekly it will remain in that setup and state till it moves along to the next owner....I dont give two gnat farts to "SQUEEZE" every bit of "potential" out of it -- it is what it is and I accept that.....
The fact is many people dont touch their guitars with a tool ever ---
The fact that "non adjustable archaic pickups" exist is awesome-- if I want THAT Archaic sound (and i do I really do) because its different.... and I like it.
BEsides where you see these possessions to take and hold and cherish and improve to the full potential of its worthiness on earth--- I see a 100.00 guitar I can flip for 175.00 or 30.00 amp I can sell for 80.00......
OR a 900.00 Gibson Jr. for 479.00 that I can sell to some lump for 700.00 when I am bored with it ..........
Not the same fields.......different angles.....separate goals.
Im good ......but keep pitching .......you'll get bored eventually they all do.

Because I care about your well being. Because I want you to stand up straight little soldier and be all that you can be. And guitar optimization is just the begining.
And while you are at it, I want you to care about the things you spend your time and money on. And if you flip it, I want you to make more money on it.
I also want you to shave once in a while, keep an eye on your weight, get rest, stay away from fatty foods and floss twice daily.
I care because you matter. Now get your damn screwdriver and set those guitars to the best they can be. For the guitar, for you, for US and for a brighter tomorrow.

Say mom --- I was trying to be all I can---and looked up the "correct" string to pickup height at the bridge.......which was 1/16" --- guess what the SG JR measures exactly that .........so it IS at "optimum" height.....what a coincidence!
