Car Shopping

Yes, Smitty. see my thrifty example of a good Honda I bought. It was $200 at auction. I mentioned it to G earlier in the thread to show how it's done Ferengi style. It is a 2nd Gen 1983 Civic 5 speed Wagoooon

I used to love cars.
Now I hate them.
Cant afford something new and the more recent used cars have all the fancy extra crap that break down by the time they get to us, power windows, stupid million engine sensors, extra chip ignition key cost $80. even the hvac units to switch the air to defrost or floor, etc.
Oh and some arrogant A-hole took a whole generation of used cars out of the market to prompt those who can afford new to buy them to save the US auto industry.
the clunkers were supposed to be crushed/ recycled but persistent rumors suggest many got sold out the back door off continent on container ships to boot.
Working man is the forgotten man I tell ya.
Least we can buy cheap Asian guitars; for now at least.

Sorry for the rant; trying to keep my 2001 Jeeps road worthy, mostly so my wife can get to work and back, sometimes after midnight.

I'm happy with my daily driver. V8 manual transmission. But I no longer want a car collection.

Every year that goes by I try to do less and less driving. I hate being in a car at this point. It's strictly for getting my butt to work and for handling tasks that need to be done. And the occasional road trip.
I loved driving when I was younger, but now I derive exactly 0% pleasure from being in a car.

I can easily do 300 + mile days or more seeing clients, delivering samples, sales calls etc.
I'm in outside sales .......I spend half my life in the car
Add in my wife does not drive..so all domestic driving chores are mine plus my other hobby is motorcycles .....I have a riding lawn mower 2 cars and a truck..and a bike......I drive..a lot......
At this point its almost like breathing
Easily putting 40k miles on my work car alone in a year....

will be taking that car to the dump. After driving my Aston Martin DB11 8 speed transmission V-12 twin turbo 600HP I went from 3rd gear to 4th 135 MPH I can't drive 55
Most of you know my wife was killed she has a mint 1968 Shelby GT-350 302 we just had a new 302 motor put in it so she could use the fuel of today still have the original motor.
Lisa is hounding me for that car I'm torn I want to keep it in memory of my wife. Dig this fast cars and fast guitars.

According to this, it seems the EVO IV and EVO VIII use the same engine.

That might be a great option?

You lot have some lovely cars. I have a Honda runaround I keep in Thailand at the house which has been faultless in the 10 or so years we've owned it. Large boot, small engine, cruises at 140kmph easily enough (normal in Thailand), excellent around the shops for parking, etc.

My last car in England, if I remember correctly, was one of these (I really loved it, but got a bit excited one day and smashed it into a million fibreglass pieces).

I couldn't afford an E-type and to be fair this Lotus Elan +2 broke down just as often as a Jag...

I'm the same way. I used to love to drive, but after spending the past 18 years commuting to and from work, I'm tired of being behind the wheel. My wife drives when we go anyplace. Except if a freeway is involved, she doesn't do freeway driving.

Whoa, that's a pretty big discrepancy. Hope you get that worked out quick.

OK... Anther change of direction. I'm not waiting 3+ months for an engine. I'm working on a couple of options and maybe have a direction to go by Monday. Either have them patch it up good enough to drive to the dealer and trade it in for a down on a new car or someone may be interested in buying it as is and use that as a down on a new car.
