I did studio work when I lived in New York City and then everyone played Gibson Les Paul's or Stratocasters. That was up to one of the directors. I only had a Les Paul and I had to go out and get a Strat. Many times on the albums back in 1980s you heard studio playing and not the real background singers or the stage band. Studio players are on so many albums.
