The TTR Official Strat Pride Thread

Agreed......Sysco -- but I dont care for light --- or lager--- or pale--- or ---well anything other than BLACK --- se once you go GUINNESS all else is like water really.

I'll have to look for that not sure we can get it here.
There are many stouts..... chocolate stouts etc from small u.s. craft Brewers
dead Guy Brewers....even Sam Adams has a special stout.......but Guinness is the most readily available.....and many times it's not available.... ☹️

I swear, you whitemen can't read your own backward language!:BH::coffee::LOL: Y'all got a dedicated beer thread to yap about yer brew, but noooooo, you chose a thread about Stratocasters to discuss your alcoholic adventures!

Stouts and porters are too sweet for my taste. I prefer very bitter beers with a higher alcohol content, so generally I stick with West Coast-style IPA's.

Now, let's talk Strats!
Ages ago, back in those early days, we bought and sold guitars faster than Adrian does today. Well almost as fast as Adrian. Truth be know he holds the World Land Speed Record for The Fastest Trader of Instruments in the Free World! But we did do some wild trading too. Mostly among ourselves. I had a 65 Strat that I got in a trade. Six months later it was traded to a buddy. It went through four more of my friends and ended up with me again two years later. Then it was sold to a dealer who wanted it.

As I said earlier, I've always had a Strat around. They have a unique sound and clarity that no other instrument can easily produce. My new 2017 Standard is simply great. Not super expensive. But it's a Fender! It's got remarkable good tone and feel. A joy for this oldman to play. Artic White and a maple board. Yes, Jimi would be proud. I know I sure am. This Strat, and the 2016 Epiphone ES339 are all I will ever require or need to produce any sound I can think of.
Oh, and one thing else......
In Texas, if you ain't got a Strat, then you ain't a guitar player!

Having been through so many Strats, what is your opinion on the best currently available pick ups? Should you just mix and match to taste? How about the noiseless such as Fishman Fluence?

What are you thoughts on the toggle for 7 way switching?

Ya know, I repaired, modified, and rebuilt many over the years for customers. Installing whatever was the "popular pickup" of the month for guys that couldsn't play worth crap, but hadda have the latest stuff. 20 years or more of that taught me one thing; there is no "one pickup" that is better than the other. If it's a quality pickup. (not a $2 ceramic lump of junk) And if it has depth, clairty, and is smooth, then why change it? My own personal guitars seldom ever were changed unless they were goof with by some hack with a soldering iron and an empty head before I got one. Nearly ALL my instruments were stock. In my world, you see, I didn't require big fancy stuff to play guitar. I sounded the same with a $3500 ES335 or with an Epiphone DOT Dlx.

Naw, I'm the wrong guy to ask about pickups and such. My opinion is simply this: If it ain't broke, why fix it?

TTR threads, and fittingly a strat thread, veer off to another pitch and back again (or almost), like vibrato bar notes warbled or dive bombed to taste.

I really like the 'blow it out your ass' emoji, nice touch.

Precisely.

I think and feel wxactly like Wade. Both my #1 Fender Strat and my Gibson SG are and will remain entirely stock. I bought them because I liked them and I don't need hotter pickups or anything else.

If I want a different sounding guitar, I buy a different guitar, or maybe buy a guitar I don't particularly like to serve as a mod platform.

The former lead player in my band owns a '99 Strat he has modified over the years, lots of stuff on it. A hotter Seymour Duncan on the bridge, different wiring, all that jazz. I never felt a real difference, it sounded like a Fender strat with 3 singles, just like mine does.

btw congrats on that white strat, my brother, strats are a must have and are unique soundwise!

I'll toss my hat & Strat into the ring, although the only Fender part on Dirty Girl is the p/u selector switch.

Here's a pic of my 1998 American Standard Strat. I bought it back in May 2005 at a pawn shop for around $1,100 with hard shell case. It plays a feels great. I love Strat guitars. I got this pic from Photobucket so I don't know how long it will last.
