Announcing... RiffMasters!

Thank you! I'm flattered.
I use a Line6 HX Stomp for everything.
left channel is an Ubershall setup
Right Channel is a Soldano setup
The Lead part is the same Soldano set up with a delay added.
Bass is a Soldano setup.
Vocals go through the Stomp also.
The Guitar I use is a BC Rich Trace Warbeast with Nazgul pup tuned C#
The Bass is an Ibanez 605
Evil, how are getting the vocal mic through the stomp, XLR to 1/4 TS?

If I was going to do it, I would do a cover but being the last challenge and the work involved would out weigh the value. I did listen to a few songs.
I hear a number of them each day at work, and back where I grew up in La Puente, I appreciate the music, but I have no desire or interest in trying to cover it in a convincing style.
So I will not even try..

Sad to announce, Brad AKA TVvoodoo passed away an hour ago. It was a gruesome passing, probably best not to discuss details. But the long and short of it was he was killed by a monster of his own making which he failed to control. It is the wish of his wife and children that he may be awarded a "Feedback Monster" Guitar Duel point posthumously.

His dying words were recorded in the track, and his kids wanted it included in this farewell recording but his wife was disturbed by the thought. it went something like this....

"This is a LOT harder than I thought it would be! Man, it's sure fun tho---OH NO! AAH! NOOOOOOO! **uninteligible shouts and screams**

Excellent sir!!! I just turned off the noise gate, and did not pick up a pick(was that a triple entendres? ;) ) and give into the temptation of actually playing anything. Very challenging indeed!

Chapter 10 Main Event

My fellow RiffMasters, we’ve traveled dirt roads, made sweet love music, tense international intrique music, surfed, punked,
totally chilled out and even explored the very depths of Hell! Worse yet, we’ve even been challenged to try jazz!

Sadly, along the way it seems we've left behind some friends who started this epic musical trek with us, but others have joined us along the way, to help keep things VERY interesting! Well, it ain't quite over yet! It's now time for the final leg of our journey, the one we've been working towards for nearly an entire year!

xm91lZLD_o.jpg

For The Chapter 10 Main Event we will culminate this year long musical adventure with a Monster Boss waiting to be slayed, a fitting challenge to complete the journey.
Some of you may find this daunting, but with all the skills most of you have explored throughout the challenges, I expect any initial intimidation will likely
give way to creative inspiration once you actually get started.

For the final Main Event challenge you are to write, record and produce an original piece of music, including lyrics, ( spoken or sung). The catch is, the theme we'll be all be working with is “Modern Problems”

Simply put, make one or more observations about the current times we’re living in, and flesh that out in a recorded song which includes a title, verses,
choruses and even a bridge, solo and outtro if you wish. Your lyrics may be serious, dark, poignant, humorous, whatever!
As long as it is accompanied by original music in any style you wish, singer/songwriter style, or full-blown production.

Minimum 3:00 long and like the Motown Showdown side hustle, please post your lyrics along with your musical submission.

Five bonus points are available for singing or spoken-wording lyrics in the recorded production, by yourself or someone you recruit.
Deadline is Sunday November 10th, 7PM to get into the vote, or earn them participation points.

No RiffMasters Main Event Challenge is mandatory. Anyone can drop in at any time, and you should!
The goal is to have fun, challenge yourself, and share the creativity inside this beautiful community.

Chapter 10 Main Event Scoring: 48 hour Community Poll Vote on submissions post deadline.
Top Vote Earner = 10 points
Second & Third Places = 7 points.
Participation Award: All other competitors who manage to submit a valid entry = 5 points
Five bonus points for featuring singing or spoken-worded the lyrics in the recorded production.

Modern Day
Cast down like a shadow from the sun
Hidden malice, from your victims you run

Words put together like a pile of snakes
Virtue shaming, signals are fake
Oh no , no department filter
Oh no,no department filter

The fog is drifting
The fog is drifting

The fog is lifting far below
Yellows Eyes, through the trash you're sifting
The fog is lifting far below, through the trash you are sifting

Looking empty and far below
your disguise, somewhere the truth lies, lies
somewhere the truth lies,lies

The truth is hollow, provoking the traitors
The public persecution, mouths like alligators
Churning , churning, boiling disguise
Churning, turning, destructive lies

These truths you hold dear, posturing the pitiful
desperation you hold dear, so unforgettable
Modern day
Modern day pariah
So distinct social piriah
Aren’t you extinct

Well done..

Its been a while since I picked up anything and actually played.
Here is a modern problem you can all relate to.

Lyrics
TRAFFIC

Verse 1:
Woke up late, in a rush,
Coffee in hand, still gotta push,
Out the door, on the street,
But guess what’s waiting for me!

Chorus:
Traffic, I’m stuck in jam
Could be movin’, glued where I am
Traffic, when will it end?
It’s me and this road, my longtime friend!

Verse 2:
A sea of cars, trapped again,
Bumper to bumper, man I lost my zen?
GPS says minutes to go,
We all know that’s a joke, right, bro?

Chorus:
Traffic, I’m stuck in traffic!
I could be movin’ but I’m glued to this habit!
Traffic, it's so tragic,
I swear next time, I’ll go Super Jurassic!

Verse 3:
Radio’s playing that old song,
The one I hated, but now I sing along,
Because there’s nothing else to do,
Except watch that guy eat his drive-thru.

Chorus:
Traffic, drives me insane,
Might as well go dance in the breakdown lane!
Traffic, when will it end?
It’s me and this road, my longtime friend!

Verse 4:
Screamin’ kid’s in the car ahead,
I really wish I was back in bed.
Honking horns and flashing lights,
We’re all living in this slow motion fight!

Bridge:
Traffic …. Traffic … Traffic

Chorus out:
Traffic, drives me insane,
Might as well go dance in the breakdown lane!
Traffic, when will it end?
It’s me and this road, my longtime friend!
Traffic, I’m stuck in traffic!
I could be movin’ but I’m glued to this habit!
Traffic, it's oh so tragic,
Crawlin’ at a snail's pace, I’m goin’ Jurassic
Traffic
Traffic, drives me insane,
Traffic, when will it end?
It’s me and this road, my longtime friend!
Super Jurassic! :2Thumbs:

Running it in addictive drums.

RIFFMASTERS DEMOS, IDEAS, ALTERNATE RECORDINGS, and RANDOMNESS!

@ibmorjamn kicks in his Modern problem song with "Modern Day" which I agree seems rather
Sabbath-flavoured - hard-hitting lyrically, bitterly lashing out at colour revolution social "woke" madnesses.
Probably need to stay away from more descriptive details, but it's all there, and he spits it all
out with snarling contempt. An apt subject for "modern problem" for sure

Particularly liked the pile of snakes simile. Pretty great drum tone, if a little cymbal-crash heavy,
I found the guitar tone and lead melodies intriguing. Wonderful submission and unmistakably 100% ibmorJam

So far, pretty good participation in this round
and.... there are still approx 3 weeks remaining!

Was listening to this version on my phone. gave me almost an early Sabbath vibe. well done.
Thanks Liveevil, I was sort of hopping that it would come across like that.
I love the early Sabbath style.

I have to get my stuff straight. I migrated a bunch of stuff to W11 laptop, w10 laptop is full. I do have extra storage attached.

HX stomp is on 10, I recorded on 11 and just have a couple of choices for amp models. I desperately need to migrate over to 11 so I get my tones.

That and I have an idea for a clear plexiglass box to block some of the sound off of the 1 x 12 cabs.

@TVvoodoo , thanks for the critique. I always look forward to your analysis .

I could really relate to the song as soon as I started writing it on paper. It was more heart felt than any other song I tried. I just wrote what I felt.

Oh and right on about the cymbals. I juiced them a bit too much in the mix with the overheads. I didn’t want them to get lost but instead they are like a sore thumb. lol

Lady and gents, sorry I've been somewhat absentee the past week, I've been getting my home and yard in order
as Winter is Coming... plus I have to do my parents' yard too now, as they are no longer able to. But now all that
stuff is done, I can get back into the straplab this week.

Last night I fleshed out a rough recording for my Modern Problem, which is a song I started writing about two years
ago, but only had one verse.... It was going to do a sort of acoustic thing, so that's how I roughed it out.
But then I added some drums for fun, and it sounds to my ears I need to make it into a more full production, but
after adding some real rhythm, I realize my timing is pretty bad so I have to re-record pretty much everything.

It's my worst enemy, timing. I can hear the metronome, I try to use it, but the more I concentrate on timing.
it seems I end up losing it on chord progression... one thing or the other for me. Probably why I'm not taylor swift right now,
well that and my dad bod

Cool, that actually has structured madness which is hard sometimes to maintain when everything is let loose, good job.
