Guys,

I know @TVvoodoo wants to keep the main thread clear of alternate entries and such. So I started this thread up where we can post all those extra recordings, alternate entries, and works in progress.

Here is one which was inspired by Brad's post in the main thread. I took his lyrics and embellished a bit.
This is going to mark the very first time I actually double tracked my vocals or did any real vocals of any kind for that matter. I did some weird punk-ish style voice in this, I don't know, it just reminded me of some of the punk groups from back in the 70s and 80s.
and yes it's all in jest.

I friggin love this by the way lol it almost reminds me of an old 80s local TV ad you'd see for a nearby monster truck rally. It's got that meth-fueled, wet cigarette, angry carny-punk soul that you just can't shake!

So glad I helped spur that in a small way. Never doubt yourself, man... UR Golden!

I expect this thread will have many future surprises... I'd love to hear alt/failed takes, or versions you ditched halfway through etc. This thread could have legs and show a whole different side of the game... the RiffMasters Darkside

I had to end it in some sort of growl , just to get me back to metal. lol!
 
I’m glad you guys enjoyed it. It was fun to do. Never had to think about what went into doing vocals much. I tip my hat to you guys who do this for real. Even though this was more of a joke than anything else. It was an eye opener for me. The process of coming up with a cadence was different for me. I must have done easily over a dozen dry runs before I hit record. Different cadences, different voicing and inflections.
In one dry run, I did the entire thing in the growl I have at the very end. But that didn’t sound too punky. Ultimately, the … what was it Mike said? The “monster truck rally. It's got that meth-fueled, wet cigarette, angry carny-punk soul” voice won out.

I was actually working on trying to fix my last submissionn"Strutter" just to know I could do it. I did however give up on that for now. It's buried in one of my DAW's.

I give you guys credit for actually recording and producing stuff. I've always had like this 1/2 interest in it and I HATE writing material. I have no patience with a DAW either and if something snaps to something else in the wrong way or whatever, I'm fit to be tied. Lol. I'm a "play with my plugs and maybe I'll get to recording something one day" kinda guy. I do love obsessing over a mix getting it as close to as master as I can though. Maybe that's just my thing. You guys throwing out these recordings is very cool and a testament for true patience.

I'm thinking generally this is the sort of a place where our half-finished musical abortions would be welcomed, maybe to recieve a community post mortem autopsy. We all have 'em, if you don't I don't think you are really trying.

Sometimes though, I find I don't have enough sense to know when to scrap and just start over ... try so hard to fight to save something that would be better left to die on the vine. Still interesting to listen to, even for the cringe factor.

I have a bit of Dylan's "Masters of War" I gave up on already for this round. It just wasn't happening, couldn't find the right riffage to pull it together

"Gravedigger," however is not that kind of thing at all! I propose it may be the ideal track to open the eventual TTR RiffMasters compilation album. So far anyway... the game is way young and I'm sure many other gems are just waiting to be mined.

But that outtro @LiveeviL2000 ?
