RIFFMASTERS DEMOS, IDEAS, ALTERNATE RECORDINGS, and RANDOMNESS!

I remixed it, brought the vocals up, the bass down, and panned the guitars left and right. It's given me a bit of hope that it might work. Still needs a lot but I think it's on the right track. This is how I usually record. Record a verse and play with it until I like the sound then start work on the song. It really needs drums but my drum programming skills are not there.

Sorry no sample but I was working on my folk->rock version last night with a computer performing slightly better now via a tip from Dagger Don.

Player performance, however was lacking LOL. I chose an angry song lyrically, but it's sort of in a major key and I wanted to make it sound more "pissy" but can't get past it feeling a little too "bouncy" with how It's going so far

I think I need to change up the bass... Might be the drums too. I just borrowed the pattern off a midi file of the original, so that's not helping much either... being the base flavour of everything. I haven't spat out word yet just a weak-ass vocal guide track

I tried various guitar approaches... a punk sort of rhythm, then 80's chugga and some other styles too, nothing made the small hairs stand up like I was hoping for. Gonna need something strong against this field!

Before I change things up I should render a quick section off for this thread and comparison later. or Probably best at this point, just create another version of the song, now last night after learning it fairly well and semi-arranging something.

But I have to say thinking my way out of this problem is a super mental exercise, exactly why I needed Riffmasters in my life... plus all the huge fun and musical camaraderie the rest of you are bringing

I feel your pain. You have all star field of players. Of course you are more adapt to this music tweaking than I will ever be.
Part of the problem is the nature of folk song being major key.

I have changed songs. Spent a few days on one I really liked but changed direction.

The song I am focusing on now I have had ample time but I have not settled on the arrangement. Trying to stick in the original key however today decided to just drop a half step. The other thing , like you said is drums , that is one thing I really screwed up last time (one of many) A lot of the songs are just acoustic with a bunch of session instruments dumped on top.

was buggering around here in my workspace tonight and decided to render off
a chunk of the the bob dylan Masters of War project that i mentioned, but aborted... just for the spirit of the thread

I could have stuck with it, I really liked the drums, bass and overall vibe, but it's a terrifically long song and I
didn't have the attention span to stick with it.... figured I'd cut my losses and go another direction.

This was even before I did the megadeth thing
