DAW / Interface / Plugins and other Magic

I am back on this topic.
Volt 4 , Volt 2 , Focusrite 8I8
The UA Software is also a huge incentive however the Focusrite has softube Silver Jubilee.

Get the Focusrite if you like it. Screw the UA plugs. I know where you can get 44 top tier UA plugs for only $150. That's like thousands of dollars worth of plugs for only $150. I messed up and jumped in too early and paid $299. Great deal but still. o_O

Well it boils down to the sound more than the plugins . I know the UA has the 1176 compressor .

And many other topics.
I almost bought a mic pre amp by black lion audio. It's a clone of the Neve 1073.
It has favorable reviews.
About $250 cheaper than a Focusrite ISA1 or the Universal Audio 610 . Also Warm Audio WA73 is a Neve Clone.
Just might need to take a break.
This stuff is in the $300 - $800 range.
Good time to buy and I know George Lynch most notably is using some kind of pre amp. Most studios probably use several. However that high end stuff is expensive

The Black Lion and the Warm Audio both use transformers. The UA 610 is tube.
Analog .

Do I need a new interface ?
Short answer no. Do I have one in a cart ?
Of course. Couple days ago I had the Black Lion Pre Amp in a cart.
However , I want a better pre I think what might work for me is the UA 476.
It has very good mic pre's so even though a stand alone pre amp would be better I think the interface would do nicely.

It has room to accommodate two channels of external preamplifier goodness.

I am thinking line out of the stomp in to the 476 but what is the input signal level for 476 ? I guess instrument level.
It looks like you have 2 inputs that do, at least, mic and instrument level(the combo jacks), and two line inputs( the 1/4 inch jacks).

As far as the HX Stomp setup: see page 40 of the manual…

Set the output level of the HX Stomp to “line” level, and connect the HX outputs (see page 4-5 of the HX manual) to the 476 (line inputs 3 & 4) using two 1/4 inch TRS cables. TS/instrument cables will also work, but may allow some noise to sneak in…your choice.
