Thank you Robert, that is good to hear .
EZ drummer 2 is fun.
I have a real good friend who is a drummer. We used to jam once in while.Unlike a real drummer....
Superior Drummer is what you want. They increase the sound resolution to polished perfection and give you full control over every nuance of what you might want to do with an instrument. EZ locks you into static semi-adjustable configurations. Some how I fixed the pop/click I was getting from the drums. Part of it was changing all the drums from modern to vintage and killing the compression in ez drummer as well as turning down the overhead mic. The parametric EQ helped tame the unruly symbol attack.
EZ drummer 2 is fun but I need drums with no effects added. You should be able to toggle off the effects instead of knobs and sliders.
Yes. Superior is nice. A bit much, for my tastes, to get involved in. I had it way back in my Windows days, and it was more than I needed, even then…of course, I had a drummer that kept his full kit here 24/7, and got pissy when I did drums in software...I never felt like I used it enough to justify the $. But if you’re going to get in deep, it is their flagship drum suite. It does sound like @ibmorjamn is wading in deep…endless tweakery ahead…Superior Drummer is what you want. Yes, I get in to certain idea and go in that direction but I am picky about the drums.Yes. Superior is nice. A bit much, for my tastes, to get involved in. Fake drums, and that fiddley stuff(time) that comes with them, can be really cool….but not my cup.Yes, I get in to certain idea and go in that direction but I am picky about the drums.
Superior drummer might be an option.
Superior Drummer is what you want.
That's a funny coincidence you mention Appice. Several years ago my wife worked as airport shuttle driver. She drove Vinnie, actually got a selfie pic.Is Carmine Appice available?
I couldn't agree more. With the exception they are real in a sense. I see how much painstaking work they put in to setting up the drum kits for recording in the studio.Fake drums, and that fiddley stuff(time) that comes with them, can be really cool….but not my cup.
Real drums, on the other hand…I’ll mess around with them a bit…wish I could play worth a scoop of fudge…but I do like a good drum recording session.
Try Superior. First thing you notice is that horrible and cheap compression is off the drums. Like I said, you do every nuance ...if you want to.I couldn't agree more. One of the producers set up 31 mics.
Both sides of the snare and bass drums.
11 room mics (works with modern surround sound)
Despite all of effort something gets lost.
Fake drums helped make Def Leppard more successful in the studio.I'm sure many others.
I looked in to a electric kit but they take up to much space for my room with all the other equipment I have. For reference "inspector 20's thread about production"

I might do that in the future. I might wait for Black Friday on that. I was thinking easy drummer 3 upgrade. It sounds like a good idea for what I'm doing. Not like I need pro sounding drums with my little songs.Try Superior. First thing you notice is that horrible and cheap compression is off the drums. Like I said, you do every nuance ...if you want to.
Basically you see a big PA board with inserts, mics, mic angles, etc. They are to stock configurations but could be stripped or added to or whatever. You could run hundreds of EQ's into one drum if you wanted. Lol.
The sound is a lot different as well. They actually sound completely like real drums since no resolution is cut out. Plus the extra mic, rooms, angles, etc., are another 500GB of super quality extras. Basically you just get a 1TB drive for your recording business if you go full-on.
You can upgrade from EZ just to let you know. I did so I technically have both working and sharing. It's cheaper to upgrade, I believe.
I have EZD3. I like the new writing toolset. The finding and editing of playing styles seems to me to have more depth. The “band mate” thing is an interesting concept…I haven’t dug in to it too much though. I have tried the song-builder/suggestion feature…that’s how I built the Squatcher demo. It was interesting to do, and I’ll dig deeper into that. The sample library has been updated…the mixer has been updated(you may like that, but I don’t know if it’s gonna be enough to make you totally happy…maybe/maybe not)…but Superior is still their flagship, and EZD is their “songwriter tool”.I might do that in the future. That is very helpful Don. It does sound like it could work. I just don't like clicking sounding drums. It's annoying.I have EZD3. I like the new writing toolset. I debated Superior over the EZD3 upgrade, because of my band situation…but decided to stick with EZD because of my familiarity, and lack of desire for a more complex workflow while writing. I’m already slow enough in putting things together. That is very helpful Don. It does sound like it could work. I just don't like clicking sounding droms. It's annoying.
I don't care where I get them but since I sunk time and money in this format I will just stick with. Ez 3 is less of an expense for now. I am thinking I have spent a couple thousand dollars over the past 2 years to present.Of course several guitars, amp and various odds and ends like Pickups and software.
At least there are no licensesing issues for tracks.
I feel that exactly. Not sure if I would use all of the features in Superior and for sure would slow work flow.I debated Superior over the EZD3 upgrade, because of my band situation…but decided to stick with EZD because of my familiarity, and lack of desire for a more complex workflow while writing.
