Well boys and girls...

That gear you bad looked a steering off a car ! Glad you got through the surgery !
Kinda did, didn't it?
Or, drum parts lol

I guess that the bars with the nuts and bolts and stuff actually get cleaned and then re used on other patients who suffer from similar injuries.

Hell, why not?
Just before I went under, they were telling me that there was a good chance that they may end up using peices of bone......from a cadaver....in order to make sure that I got all the parts I needed. Luckily they didn't have to.

How weird would that be???
"Oh yeah - I've got some dead person's body parts inside of me"

Holy crap man get well soon . My aplogies for being late to the party so to speak . well wishes though and hopefully ya have someone to sneak ya beer and remember what the man himself said .View attachment 83807
Thanks Fro
I think I'll have to wait on the beers though, I have been taking obscene amounts of opioid painkillers. Seriously obscene. Including but not limited to:
Fentanyl
Demerol
Dilaudid
Oxy

Still haven't §hit since Friday morning aside from a couple of bunny pellets' worth late last night, which I still consider a victory.

Others that are not narcotics include:

Torodol
Tylenol
Methocarbamol
Some kind of antibiotics

Pretty sure I didn't even get them all either lol

Other pros:

I've quit smoking
I've been sober for nearly a week
I haven't smoked any pot for nearly a week
My wife has learned a little more appreciation for me and my health
And....and, and...umm

Well at this point I'm just rambling

Cons:
Can't poop
High as balls on drugs I don't condone
Broken leg/knee
Away from family
Missed Mastodon and Opeth

Eh, an-anyway....thanks Froman. We're getting there. One day at a time. At least now I'm on the other side of this bitch. All I gotsta do now is just get better.

This night nurse that I have had throughout the week has been cool as hell. Just now, she told me, "well if you wonder why your hip hurts so bad, go onto YouTube and look for "ORIF" surgeries. They usually get the power tools and hammers and hardware out for these kinds of operations."

And I was like, woah, that's cool! I can't wait to share with all the guys! Lol

It does in fact explain why I am sore in places that they did not work on.

Y'all can do your own searches lol
Who can come up with the most medieval examples?

people survive that believe it or not , it's something to watch though .
Oh I'm sure they do!
I don't normally post about what a twisted and sick f*ck I truly am, but I sorta like to watch .....umm.....well, we'll just call it "gore vids" lol
I'm not easily disturbed.
I've actually seen videos of thoracotomies on several occasions, I just never knew what the procedure was called!
Used to browse rotten, b0g, and a few other old school sites, most are now defunct but there's still a few out there. I think bestgore even got taken down, but that one had some good stuff sometimes.
There's always the ol' chan sites though. Anon can find anything.

Here is what my mom sent all my family members after the surgery was done but before I was able to think or understand anything:

They found Michael has strong bone and the surgery went just as well as could be. Didn't have to go backwards at any point, which seemed like a pleasant surprise. There are two incisions. One on each side of the knee. Not front and back. They installed 3 plates and screws and didn't need a bone graft at all. The meniscus was torn on the inside of the knee so they repaired that and said his meniscus was thinned on the outer part of the knee because of the pressure as the injury happened. They slit the fascia on the left side of his shin bone to allow for swelling. He will always have a bump running up and down on his muscle to the left of his shin. There was only one ligament that needed repair - the medial collateral ligament (or something like that) and sometimes they don't even bother to reattach it. She did though. He has two days with NO movement of his knee and he MUST move it after that. She tested his knee and he had full range of motion immediately after surgery. His knee will always feel "different" and he may acquire arthritis but she usually doesn't see knee replacements after the 20 years she has been doing this very surgery. They said he would have a 5-7 hour surgery but it was 3 1/2 hours. I'm so thankful for this hospital and the entire staff has been so amazing.
This is really good news. Happy it turned out as well.... and frankly, better..... than what was expected. Now. Be a good boy and listen to and do what your PT tells you.

Aren't bitchy nurses just the worst?
Good nurses can make all the difference in the world during ordeals like these.

It should be a crime to cop a bitchy 'tude on the job if you're a nurse lol
One of my sister-in-laws is a surgical nurse. She tells stories. Figured out I want to be nice to nurses, because they can make your life miserable if you're not. Lots of "Yes ma'ams and whatever you say."

OK since all is well and its basically a happy ending.

Can we start calling Blink names like Gimpy, Evel Knievel, The Bionic Man, etc ...

or is it too soon?
I was half ass thinking Hop Along Blink ??
But I don’t wish this kind of pain an suffering on anybody..
Stay true to the course Mike ..
Wishing you a speedy recovery brother.

Cheers
Mitch

I met and shook hands with this man in Daytona.

Hard to imagine some of the famous people I actually have met and done so with. Another was Johnny Unitas. Great Great man. Very caring and gracious.

I thought I was doing great all night, but the pain came back a couple hours ago and it again terrible.

This seems to be a pattern, and I know it's going to pass at some point. So for now I'm just gonna grit my teeth and bear it.
Worked with a guy that ultimately got both knees replaced. Yes... I know that's not remotely like you have just endured. But I will tell you it won't be an overnight recovery once home. Just listen to the doctors and PT. Can't emphasize it enough. Do what they tell you. They will get you where you need to be.

I got a new roommate. He is 63 years old, cool guy. Friendly as hell, seems like a great guy. Likes motorcycles, likes music, we seem to have a lot in common, actually.

He's here because he got circumcised.

So now he's in here recovering, and the doctor is showing him how to care for it, and how he should be changing the gauze and stuff...
He's quite obviously having a LOT of pain, and I feel really bad for him that he has to be in here knowing that my wife and I are just on the other side of the curtain, hearing everything.

The poor guy is crying! I can't blame him, but man, I feel really, really bad!!!

I don't even know what to think about this right now...
