Well boys and girls...

Downside....
Hospital staff just rolled in a new roomie. Bummer!
But, I was someone else's roomie when I first got here too.
Oh well. I figured this might happen, but I was finally enjoying having the room to myself, makes for more restful nights.
Yes it sure would.
When the wife was recovering from the brain surgery she stayed in t he Neuro recovery ward the whole 17 days. About 8 beds in there.
Kind of a pain.

When I first arrived here by ambulance, I was rolled into a room with a similar situation, except probably 2/3rds of the people in there were actually wearing jail uniforms or they were cuffed to the bed. And all the patients down there were also very rude.

More good news:

Because I have set up my hospital bed in such a way that I can hold my injury well above my heart, and because I have kept it completely surrounded by ice packs around the clock, the swelling has gone down enough that they will be able to perform the surgery tomorrow, an entire day early from the original plan. Apparently a lot of people don't do this and I can't imagine why not!

This will shorten my hospital stay by at least one day.

I won't be making it to rehearsal this week, but I see no reason that I can't make it next week/Wednesday for rehearsal and just play while seated in my wheelchair.

Yeah, I'll be in a wheelchair for at least 3 months, and then either crutches or a walker for a while after that. So I am unsure about our first gig in early June we have been working towards...but if it goes well enough, I would be willing to perform from the wheelchair if I had to.

So now I have to start thinking about which guitars I can and can't play from a seated position in a wheelchair. That should keep my mind occupied for some time while I'm still here.
Boo yeah! Play any way you can!

I may have been a little overzealous with my trip to the toilet. 3 hours later, ouch!
S'pose I better get used to this to some extent, because I am going to have quite a bit of physical therapy to be doing and it is not going to feel awesome all the time.
I asked for a shot of dilaudid with my last round of oral meds so that I can get some zzz's before the surgery tomorrow, was hoping to be done with the IV drugs at least until after the next surgery. But,

Worth it. Not only went to the toilet, but got a little bonus out of the deal too I guess lol

Have seen this before with the caption, “why girls live longer than boys.” Truth. View attachment 83747
Me and my buddies used to "roof surf" where we'd climb on top of a car and our buddy with the car would see how fast he could go before we had to drop down and hang on or fall off... I think 35mph was my record. But, now that you mention it, none of the girls we hung out with ever participated...

Great news Blink.
I bet you can’t wait to get out of there.

Now as for what guitar to play in a wheelchair.
You can forget about any V shapes.
Looks like you need to play ….

Here it comes ….

I picked it out in black for you. Just to make it more … Metal?
I'm not anti-tele per se, I just don't have any. I have any of these currently at my disposal, though:

You know and really, I don't seem to have a lot of trouble sitting with a V either, sobthe question will be: can my busted leg tolerate it? An Explorer shape a lot of people find more comfortable to sit with than a V, but I don't think that's true for me. In fact, I have not sat down to play in such a long time that no matter which one I choose, I suspect they'll all feel very odd. Not only will I be sitting, but I'll be crippled to boot.

My bets will be on the V, the Exp shape, or that white Dinky.

So, they adjusted your truss rod?
Just cleaning around the pins' entry points into the flesh and bone

I see your portable commode in the background....

Next time you use it, have some fun and ask your nurse, "Do you have another one of these available?"

When he or she asks why, say, "Cuz this one's full..."
I actually made it to the real toilet last night and was able to BM just a little, but I am not sure that it was entirely worth it because it made my leg hurt so bad that I needed a bit of dilaudid along with my regular dose or oral meds just in order to fall asleep. And then I got about a solid 2 hours worth, which is about the most I've been able to sleep at a time since I've been here.

Any of those strat bodies will work best sitting down. That blue Ibanez looks tasty!

Also, another benefit of having been stuck in here for this time.....

I have quit smoking. Now, not necessarily voluntarily...but I have gone enough days without a cigarette that all I have to do is never pick one up again and that's what I plan on.
Stay with it!!
If you feel like you cant, maybe switch to a vape for a while and work down to the lowest nicotine.
Not exactly safe and there is lots of debate on it, but much better than inhaling smoke.

Well, I managed to move to the commode and back, though I wasn't able to produce a BM.

Oh well...I can do it and will eventually.
There has to be a Poop Knife joke in there somewhere.......

Yes, I have been a smoker for far too long, I even quit once a while back, it lasted a good 3 years' time. I only ever picked it up again, ironically, after a bad day on the farm I was working at the time, when I ended up in the ER after a Kenworth fell off a jack and crushed my hand. I think I mentioned that somewhere in this thread earlier.
However, this time around, I can't even sneak out for a smoke if I wanted to.

I have been using this stuff while I've been here, completely tobacco free. Kinda like the old Skoal Bandits or any other chaw in a pouch, but it's just a nicotine hydrochloride, pharmaceutical grade, and it's been working great! I am going to stay with it. Been meaning to quit the cigarettes for some time again but just have not because 1) it's a battle I wasn't ready to fight yet and 2) because of that it's a battle I was guaranteed to lose. But now, all the hard part is already done, I just have to NEVER pick one up again.
