So anyway, after shaking off the ear fatigue of twisting knobs on the Snouse Blackbox 2 yesterday, I plugged in today to the final settings from yesterday, and I am very much liking what I hear

I actually ordered printable decal paper. Now I need a graphic program. Can anyone suggest a free one or help mw with a sketch?

Inkscape is a popular free one on some of the amp forums.

There is some learning curve involved. I didnt dive deep into it only because I am familiar and have access to AutoCAD.

So anyway, I was wrong laboring under a false impression. I did some reading that made me give my builds a closer listen. There was indeed some rattle on the high E and less so on the B string without a string tree. I have added one for those strings. I could not detect any rattle on the G string , so I did not install a second

My 2 Godin Strats come with trees on DG BE and my Custom Tele has them on DG BE also.

I avoid string trees at all costs. With vintage or staggered tuners, they are not needed.

In many cases, probably most, perceived buzz or "rattle" is caused when the string has less than 2/3rds contact with the nut floor. The string tree will force the string into floor contact, but adds tension and can cause failures to return to pitch on bends, or when using the tremolo.

Check your nut floor and be sure you have at least 2/3rds contact. If you do, I suggest raising the string tree with a tiny aluminum tube spacer - like those found at Home Depot - to mimic the angle of the other strings....

Just found out earlier this morning my dad passed.
Havent seen him since my kids were little (at our house in NJ, they are both in their late 20's now), as he lived in Colorado.

We were on good terms and spoke fairly regularly by phone.
He was 80 and healthy and I was planning to see him this year, with the the idea I dont know how much time.....
Too late.

Wow, so sorry to hear this. It must be tough to lose a parent. I have not had to deal with that yet, but my mom turns 80 this year. Schedules and distance make it hard to visit. I'm glad you communicated often.

My condolences. Lost my dad in 2006. I remember the last time I spoke to him about a week before he passed, I was parked in my car in a parking lot getting ready to go in for a haircut. I'll always remember that.
