@Iron1 I used to mess with a beat machine and loops in the 90's primitive software back then. there are about 20 basic rock beats that you can find in just about 90% of all rock music. for punk and metal you up the tempo and add doubles and triplets.
Not sure how you do your creating with loops but I would start with a back beat, when it comes time for an accent or a fill, just over lap it on top of the back beat, then cut out the back beat in that area? make sure it all lines up on time... that probably didn't help much but you can run the back beat the entire song is what I am saying, then cut it out in area of your choosing where you overlap the accents and fills. once you have that you can start to change BPM and time signature stuff... loops are hard to do, much better just to go back and forth with a drummer
