A pleasure not yet experienced.
If I decide to give one a sniff ... any recommendations? ;)
I got a DCPA4R. VERY loud guitar! It feels right to me, and I had a use for it, so I had to.....:) I actually ended up with the rosewood model due to a fluke mistake, but it ended up being for the better. Totally different sound than a spruce/mahogany guitar for sure! Check em out!

Quote,
"My last acoustic is an all rosewood Martin. It smells better than freshly dusted wh0*€house."

I'm after recommendations for the whO*ehouse, not a stupid guitar ... I've moved on! LOL.

There are no maple fingerboards. They look like maple but they are all some horrible claggy lacquer that eventually wears away in patches and looks dirty. Rosewood every time for me.
The maple fingerboard on my shop made tele is just waxed and buffed. True Eastern hard rock maple.

You are, for asking?

I liked this post because it made me spurt beer from my nose and almost choke while LOL.
Then I figured I'm also "nutz" because I also have no idea.

BTW, not a good move to call an administrator "nutz" without a smilie. Some places send members to the naughty corner for that. :)

Wenge, or Phenolic resin.

I googled and saw this, Quote ...

"Phenolic is not stable. It warps when heat is applied to one side of the fingerboard. And when the fingerboard cools down, it stays warped; it has no memory. Shine a 60 watt light bulb on one side of a phenolic fingerboard for a while and see what happens if you dare. Phenolic fingerboards (along with wood) are not impervious to temperature."

Interesting!

Compared with this student everybody is a player.
You're kidding, are you ?

I prefer the look of maple but in the end it's all about the playability of the neck and my fingers can't really feel much of a difference. If you do feel a difference I'd suggest you are pressing too hard :)

That is probably why I favor Rosewood first, and Ebony second. I have always been heavy-handed...
