Bridge String Spacing Bullsheet:

So, on my YelloStrat, the outside e to e spacing at the 22nd fret is roughly 1.895" with a fretboard width of 2.187" respectively. This is a phenomenal guitar to play tough/fast/hard accurately with no tendency of the high e to slip off the bevel of the fret.

On my (recently re-acquired) Jackson San Dimas, with a Floyd Rose, the outside e to e spacing at the tremolo Bridge saddles is about 2.085" with the strings very close to the edge of the 2-3/16" fretboard along the length of the neck.

This is so irritating to try and play fast/hard because the high e string is constantly slipping off the beveled edge of the frets.

I was planning on putting a new 1-3/4" Warmoth neck on this (R5) but the string spacing at the 22nd is a deal breaker for me.

How do you guys put up with this B.S???

Honest answer: lighten up. I was like you for years: fast and hard, emphasis on hard. After spending time consciously working on lightening my grip and picking my technique and tone improved dramatically, and I was able to control dynamics much better.

I get that, but once I start "thinking" about my technique, I really lose something in the dynamics of my performance. It becomes dry and boring.

My vibrato can be Zakk Wyldish on my YelloStrat, but I have to scale my expressiveness way, way back on this Jackson, which is a shame because, otherwise. I really like it... :-(

I usually use a black and decker electric staple gun with 5/8" X 3/4" brass staples.

Interesting!!!!

The Jackson and the Schecter both share 2.130" e to e spacing, but the Jackson fretboard is only 2.220" wide at the 22nd fret and the Schecter is a whopping 2.310" wide!!!!
