What’s on the Grill

Similar. My wife got me a Sears Water Smoker probably 30 years ago. Barely used it before moving from western Illinois to NE Illinois in 2002. Already used it three times this year. Gotta be decent days though. Can’t me too chilly. It started life red and after moving here it needed a little TLC so I painted it. Being a Dale Earnhardt fan.... well. Here’s the result. Yup, same style as smoky. That thing is sweet!

And, as for the Earnhardt..... (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y):D:D

This week, I got a new to me free smoker. Not the best, but perfect timing as the gas grill crapped out. Don’t know how to use the smoker box yet, but for it’s maiden voyage here, I’m cooking a pork tenderloin with salt, pepper, rosemary, and thyme. Reminds me of a Simon and Garfunkel recipe.

Nice! Good luck!
Is that in the main cook chamber then? Firebox is cold?

Well, since I haven't posted anything yet having to do with food (ironic, right?), I think it's high time I do so. Had a little hankerin' on the weekend for a bar-type snack, a mexican cantina type snack... went to the local grocery/butchers, got some chicken livers, bacon, put 'em together, plopped them into a cast-iron... and:

After about 30 minutes over a nice woodfire, here's what came out:

Couple o' brews and we're golden (damn I wish they sold shiner bock up here in Toronto)! One of the advantages of digging a little firepit in the backyard. And iron-cast skillets rule, no matter what. It's my desert-island item. The handwound P-90s of the kitchen!

Yum! It looks really good! Send some my way!

I remember when that happened lol
So do I. August 4th, 2020....
I'm still pissed.
But she didn't get so lucky this time.
I got to eat them all myself instead, and shared some with LRT too. They're pretty tasty after some guitar playing with a few beers.
That was my dinner last night. Poppers with a side of steamed asparagus.
