Where's Chilli

TY S5............ Yup, super busy. Hope I have what it takes to get this bathroom done this week. If the lady hadn't picked fancy trim design accent tiles and all manner of accessories, I could fly with it, but instead she picked Large format Porcelain tile, glass mosaic and little strips of piping accent pieces and other fancy borders which all eat up time to lay out and fit.

Looks like I may shoot up there tomorrow to start on the tub and walls since I laid out my guide lines yesterday.

Thanks S5, I did their upstairs bathroom a few years ago. It had a heavy panel type treatment for the tub. That was a tricky one since I had never installed this type covering before. It came in handy though as I did one for another customer last year.

This is what I have been doing the last 2 days.41D48C94-A89F-431D-B03B-CF8A5F7613F0.jpeg

Yea Norm the red C channel is going on each side of the existing ridge beam, with new support on each end to remove 2 posts that used to be in walls that were removed.
Now the area is opened up real big and nice.. the pic with the 4x12’s that is the garage area.
We are also going to be putting a substantial amount of shear panel up, so quite a bit of concrete drilling and new anchor bolts are going to be installed, with epoxy.
Cheers

All the C channel steel is bolted
2 bolts at 16” on center all the way across spaced 6” vertically in the existing beam, 2 “ up from the bottom, and 2” down from the top.

Man Mitch, I have done similar, but never had heard of that type red steel stuff. Certainly never had any fancy jack lifts like those either. We mostly got stuff up and used bottle jacks and 2x6 or 4x4 posts to jack up tight.

U r making me long for the days of my good old back /without pain or with manageable pain levels again.

Back in the 90's I went to Tijuana to build a church with concrete block and metal roof. Then a 2nd year built a bible school dorm with the same construction. We had to hollow out the tops of the top course of block and then insert rebars and pour with slurry to create a seamless band around the top of the buildings for earthquake measures.
