Gball, am I understanding your comment is trying to explain the tone is a large part influenced by the V30 here, plus I am assuming 99% correct, his DSL is open back.

Right, I think you really need to experiment with speakers more in an open back more than a closed back. You're really relying more on the baffle than cabinet volume for the final sound. And I know this sounds weird but my aging ears are beginning to prefer the sound of open-back cabs. So, I sold off both of my V-30 loaded cabs and I am using primarily the Mesa Lonestar with a C-90 in it. That speaker has plenty of low-end punch and whatever I am giving up in bottom end tightness I am getting back in spades with openness in the top end and less directional sound.
Part of it, I think, Is that I am really backing off the gain these days. The red channel on the Mark 5 is running between 10 and noon, and of course I just bought a Fender amp for something completely different.
