Let's Talk About Picks!

I find it funny and such a coincidence, but today I went out to my lawn tractor to prep it to mow the lawn. I look down to a dirt spot in front of it and see something blue. I push some grass aside with my foot and see a dirty guitar pick. It was not one I ever used or even seen before.

The pick looks like this.

I generally use Heavy or Medium White, Brown, Blue, Green Celluloid Fenders or D'Addario Classics equivalents

One more thing about me and my playing. Due to injuries to my right hand that caused nerve damage and loss of strength in my index finger, sometimes just positioning a pick in my fingers and manipulating it either feels odd, or weak or simply like a pick will get out of position or fall out. So, choosing ones to feel just right has become more than a no brainer than when I first began as a teen. These bigger triangle ones seem the best for that, short of the grippy Dava type.

I was doing some laundry last night and found a T shirt I didn't even remember I had. So I threw it in the wash with the rest and we'll see if it still fits my fat ass or not.

My bet's on not. If(when) it's too small, it gets to be part of the acoustic treatment at the jam space, pinned to the wall with the rest.

The reasoning behind my use of the Jazz III max grip is that it is the only pick I have used that doesn't turn in my fingers and eventually get dropped. I seem to be able to control it very well and I love the stiffness of this pick. I don't get along with picks that I can feel flex when I hit the strings.

Exactly why I like my choice! Twenty+ years of gigging, and I have held fast to my picks. The other guitarist in my band can’t hang on for twenty minutes before one of his fender mediums goes flying away to oblivion.

I feel the same about me trusty Tortex picks
