Let's Talk About Picks!

You really should try a super thick pick. Like 4mm+ They're so easy to hold. I have massive hands and didn't realize how much work i was doing to hold onto a Fender medium or anything round that size. Its like trying to grip a needle vs a sharpie. Plus, the high mass means more attack with less work so I play faster and cleaner all around.

Billy G and Carlos S are big fans of Vpicks and have sig models. And the best part is they're all handmade here in the USA.

HAHA Bro. I was thinking about you saying you had big hands. I know mine are not huge as in long fingers and palm, BUT then I remembered when I took mom to a dentist and kept her wedding rings etc while she was getting worked on. I think I have a pic I took. Yeah, there it is on my fat stubby pinky. Needless to say, I struggle on small narrow guitar necks. The shape of that V pick looks like it would fit in my right pick hand too. I might still have to drill a hole in it for maximum comfort.

I still prefer my .60 Tortex....

Sorry m8teys lol

I use the red Fender mediums exclusively. I like the feel of a medium and i love the red tortoise shell look.

I play with only the rounded shoulders, keeping the point turned towards my palm, which is instinctive now after years of gigging with a middle pickup.

I prefer the really, well worn pics and i keep quite a pool of them...

The new shredder guitar has taught me a few things(am converted 25 yr bass player)

1) Rand hand position..my whammy bar revealed,,way too much right hand motion..i was extending through & smacking it..48 hrs later & about 5 hours on couch just picking --cured

2) Attack- was hitting way too hard-
3) Pick touch-in the attack..i had to refocus on the angle & just the tip hitting strings..tend to hit way too hard like a bass string...this always had me never following through on B&E & would tend to avoid them cause it didn't sound right(could be 14 radius is easier to extend through on flatter plane & even motion

Took discipline & felt awkward but 2 days later have developed a lighter-even touch..that leaves (headroom..hah ha) to Pick harder when needed effect

out of that came "flutter" picking back n forth alternating...in the attack learning..had to stop whole arm motion
and sorta from the elbow generate the range of motion

felt so awkward on sat but now the new learned technique is in place..was very enjoyable this morning. was striking way too hard at wrong angle using my whole arm...it worked but in the long run has kept me from certain things..like quicker runs cause that pick was going to far down in between strings

using Dunlop Orange & green choked up
