My Interest is Piqued for a PRS...

That definitely is beautiful! Love the top! It’s a shame I never could jive with PRS guitars. They sound great, play great.. just something about it just doesn’t mesh with me.

I've only played one and I'm afraid I might be in the same boat. That's why I'm looking local. Play first and have no regrets...

Sp8ctre,
I think that is my dream PRS! To me, they just have to have the wrap around tailpiece instead of the TOM/Stop tailpiece.

One suggestion if you are thinking of laying down that kind of wampum for a PRS: if at all possible, take your own amp with you and test it through that to really know if its going to sound and respond the way you want. There's nothing worse that dropping a lot of scratch on a guitar you are GASsing for only to find out it just doesn't work right through your rig or for what you are trying to do with it.

Not a fan I take it...I thought you had one?
I have had several---they never seem to stick -- I have liked the Mira S2's (I think thats it) matte finish DC -- nice-- but way too much $$$

Besides -- Id never buy a new PRS--- (dont want to fund MR Tuners nemesis) MOST the used ones are asking stupid $ for Indonesian made stuff----
AND -- their basses, are UNinspiring---not like a GODIN or Squire--- or Epiphone--- or Dean-- or PEavey -- or-----BC Rich---or something interesting----Music Man -- Jackson......Fender.....Gibson... ANYTHING other than a PRS---- lol
so meah

I gotta admit something.

Though I’m not native to Maryland, I am a long-time Maryland resident.

And, in all that time, I’ve never even touched a PRS...even though I’ve seen them in stores...within my grasp.

I’m afraid of them.

I’m afraid that they’d exert some mystical control over me that would make me pull out my wallet.

My "Rig" is a Helix and a Kemper. I think I'll find a tone...but I will play before I pay!

So the clip is clean at high volume, then reduced volume, then dirty at high and low volume. Volume was reduced via guitar volume knob to see if you think the pickups change character/clean up. Pickup selections are standard Strat 5 way, starting at the neck position (5). Regarding positions 4 and 5, please note that I changed the bridge pickup from a 57/08 to a Vintage bass - yes, I know that is a neck pickup, but it works for me, if not still a bit too bright for my taste!

It was recorded with an audix mic on my ceriatone. Dirt provided by Wampler Plexidrive clone

I'm Also a PRS guy … Had 87' and 89' Custom 10 top , bells, boyds and whistles. Well they were both about the same and low and behold again the 80's ones have been highly collectable that at a guitar show I opened the 87' case and they all said " Name ya price " And boy I went 1/2 way to the moon and sure enough someone bit! It was my way of sayin FU to the dealers for a change thou the buyer was beyond ecstatic. I kept the scarlet red as I liked the color … those 2 have never ever let me down at a gig. No goin outta tune at all, no broken strings, and the wammys, if I used em never went out of tune … but the story about the red one is a doozy as the bride found the 2K receipt that I was trying to locate ...it fell out of the bag in the hallway and when I looked out the music room door I saw da bride shaking violently while looking at my lost receipt then it hit the fan!
