Hot Rodding a DSL40C???

Robert, I would make sure you give any potential amp choices a good test out. And if possible, buy from a place that gives a no BS 30 day free return type deal. That way you can test it at home and if it is junk, take it back.

Most definitely. I will start looking seriously when I get home.

I should mail Gball my Laney and have him find me a local Laney Amp wizard he trusts to work some magic on it. Then you 2 could let your guitars break in the new wires and circuit parts after the tech fixes Mickey Mouse's damage.

@gball. Breathe some metal mania thru it and then tell me how it sounds compared to your old one.

HOLY crap look at all the knobs and switches on the Mark 5 --- you have this one Gball???????

Nah, I have a Mark 5:25, the little one:

But I have been talking myself out of the Petrucci head ever since they were released. It's the most phenomenally great-sounding and versatile amp I have ever plugged into. However, I will say that the Mk IIC+ and Mk 4 modes of the 25 are so close it probably makes no difference in the end. No more than the difference from one guitar to the next...it's just that the engine room in the JP will move a mountain while the 25 is loud enough but lacks that kind of brute force behind it, if you know what I mean.

I'd be happy to, there are plenty of guys around Hollywood and the Sun Valley area that can fix and hotrod a Laney but really the shipping costs would probably not be worth it (you could buy a new one for that amount) and there are some pretty reputable repair guys in both Baltimore and DC that I am sure could do just as good a job.
