Amplifier service

I am looking for a head only
Daaaang! I had to read that twice... :shock:

Can you a try a Quilter locally, or by shipping, with a money back guarantee?

I didn't know this till now but Quilter production facilities and HQ are in Costa Mesa, Goofyfornia. "Made In The USA" Peavey had their day. It's time for Quilter... :woohoo:

Precisely why I didn’t hesitate when Ray mentioned an interest in a Quilter. A bass playing friend has been looking for a portable bass amp head that’s actually made in America...Quilter was at the top of his list. It looks like they make some good stuff.

Costa Mesa is about 20 minutes away. Wonder if they have a showroom ?

The cut out remains. If anyone thinks they have the skills, I will sell it to them for a great price. Otherwise, it will be for sale for a good price after repairs.

Well, that sucks!

Just to verify... Guitar > Cable > Amp … that's it! No pedals are plugged in for testing. Not even the amps foot switch is plugged in for testing... right?

Power cable connected well... not loose? Power source checks out?

I will try direct now again. Thanks

Tell you what -- lets have them rum together if Quilter still exists in 54 years.....as last I checked Peavey still does.....
Sadly, Peavey’s American footprint is fading...what is currently being made in America by Peavey now?
Quilter is the “Q” in QSC sound systems, isn’t he? He’s been around since the 60s. If his Quilter stuff is gonna go on for 54 years, he’s not gonna be around to see it do it. Probably :D

@RVA
Did you try gently moving all the tubes when the amp starts cutting out?

And applied pressure to the solder joints especially where all the tube pins are when the amp is cutting out?

I found somebody with very similar issues on the same amp. He took it to a tech, who in turn reflowed all the soldering points of the preamp tubes and I think the power tubes. This should be easy for you to do. Make sure the caps are discharged.
