finger tip issues?

Since I play every day I have built up some good callouses , so in good shape. How about you Adrian, I bet your fingers are a little on the soft side from playing Bass.:D

I keep an old Yamaha acoustic in my office and pick it up a few times a day with the idea of keeping my callouses built up. Since its strings feel like transatlantic cables compared to my electrics it helps a lot. I do pick up an electric every day also, even if just for 10 minutes.

I have a guitar strung with .11's and it build great calluses...
When I feel I need to build the callouses, I just pick up my acoustic strung with .12s. That’ll make you tough.

Used to do .13s on the acoustic, but my youngest pointed out the error of my ways.

12's.......
you guitar guys.
50 to 105 baby ;)

Playing electric 99% of the time, 9-42 and 10-46.
If my fret hand finger tips start feeling sore, it mostly means I am squeezing again, which I have finally gotten away from mostly.
Sometimes with something new or difficult I find myself squeezing because I am "trying too hard".
Big bends and a lot of them get me sometimes but for the most part I have some feeling of callus / hardness to the tips and usually dont have issues.

My play on maple necks has become much smoother as well.
I try to fret right at the fret, but some of the fingers-on-fretboard dance is bound to be on the wood.
