Same goes for a Timmy/Tim pedal. IMO, the Tim's are an excellent transparent overdrive pedal much like the Klon type pedals. But once again, they do their signal massaging very differently from each other.

Klon style pedals really have the advantage when it comes to a clean and transparent boost. And their unique buffer circuit enhances the responsiveness between guitar and amp in some cases.

Very different.

And curiously, I tried the Marshall and didn’t think much of it. The dano, though, was an absolute winner from the moment I plugged a guitar into it.

Cool little pedal. I recently ordered the "li'l pony 2" kit. Received it Monday & threw it together that night. After first testing at home through my little 5F1 Champ clone I got to try it at volume through my 4 hole 50 Watter at rehearsal last night. Really nice transparent overdrive & the footswitchable boost section is a cool feature. This pedal
can hit the front of the amp quite hard.

Very nice work. Are you fine with the full range of frequencies that are boosted thru the boost circuit?

Two months ago I sold my Silver Pony 2. Today, I finally got my Wampler Tumnus Deluxe sold. I still have my regular Silver Pony. Might end up putting that one for sale, too.

Thanks sysco. That was the first thing I noticed about the pedal, that the boost circuit was not an exact recreation of using a klon as a boost (close, but no cigar) & as such boosted the full frequency range. I resorted to using the main "drive" portion of the pedal as an overdrive, then kicked the boost on for a lead boost (along with rolling up the guitar's tone control). This worked well enough as the boost circuit is after the overdrive circuit. I may look to brightening the boost circuit at some stage, though it'll have to wait, my Merren transformers have arrived so I'm about to start on my (all NOS component) 100 watt superlead build. Cheers

Before I sold it, I modded the SP2's boost circuit by replacing a .1uF cap with a .015uF cap. This removed some of the low frequencies from being boosted. Which to me, it sounded much better.
