Klon

I just found out that MXR has jumped into the Klon Wars with their Sugar Drive. Good reviews and nicely priced at $120 new.

Sounds pretty good! I'm happy with Wampler Tumnus Deluxe and Arc Effects Klone. I have not fired up the EHX Soul Food in a while. There are lots of Klon clones out there.

I like my Soul Food a lot; "they" say it gets into the same vibe, but not quite the same.
I would like to try others.
Wait, I would NOT, and I remind myself that whatever I buy, the YOutube vids always sound better!
Especially the ones with Andy Martin.

THATS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE need to a do TTR -- REALISTIC LIFE video series------

SEND ME the gear----(especially pedals) which 1 I dislike using-- so no "pedal lust " involved-- and 2 then I will play my typical improvisational jazz/metal w/ blues overtones-- and let people hear how the pedal WILL REALLY SOUND AT YOUR HOUSE-- leave in the DOGS barking -- phone ringing -- wife yelling at the dog to stop barking --- airplane noise -- gunfire-- rooster crowing-- ALL the sounds of home --

then -- if (IF) you still think it sounds good well BUY IT ---
but it would be "real world" not studio mic'ed with a WELL CLASSED talent PLAYING the guitar--

Im sure given a minute-- Andy (Like Johan) can adjust WHATEVER you give them and play and it will sound AMAZING --

you could give me 1.5 million worth of gear-- recording studio and staff -- and it would STILL SOUND LIKE SHITE-=--

Oh come on, everybody knows Adrian,s back Yard Is now full of swamp cabbage and after tomorrow will be probably be with swamp ash. So harvest some and make it into an axe that plays itself, sounds dynamite and you can achieve greatness !:guitarking:

Two things: I bet you play guitar far better than you give yourself credit for.
I think you are cool so yes, I'll share my meds with you! You're starting to scare me a bit! LOL!

I never tried a real Klon Centaur, but I do own and use a EHX Soul Food and it does the job pretty well.

The best overdrive pedal I've ever used is still the Danelectro Daddy-O (seriously). No other pedal delivers what this one does to my classic hot overdrive sound. All the other drive pedals are too mild, they just don't get real dirty. The Daddy-O does, it goes from a sweet crunch to a serious "WTF are you looking at" drive if you crank it.

I wish there was a way to create a TTR trading post to trade pedals and stuff we don't like. No money trading hands, just gear.

I, being a pedal hoarder, have a ton of stuff I can live without.

Sergio, we have much in common!
I have a Soul Food and a Daddy O' that almost never leave my board!

We both love guitars and gear!
Wait, thats were it ends I think; you can actually play.

Nah, I suck, but that doesn't stop me from rocking.

Rocking is a matter of loving the guitar and the music... Playing well is good, but it's just not mandatory ;)

Sergio, have you tried out a Tumnus or Tumnus Deluxe by Wampler? These are very impressive to my humble ears.

FYI: The Danelectro Daddy-O is a clone of the original Marshall Guv'nor. Very different from a Klon type of pedal, and used differently compared to a Klon style.

Same goes for a Timmy/Tim pedal. IMO, the Tim's are an excellent transparent overdrive pedal much like the Klon type pedals. But once again, they do their signal massaging very differently from each other.

Klon style pedals really have the advantage when it comes to a clean and transparent boost. And their unique buffer circuit enhances the responsiveness between guitar and amp in some cases.

We've did that on an effects forum, there was a one week limit, period, and then pedals were exchanged! These dudes were very serious about pedals and seemed to know Everything about them.

Anyone else here who have tried a Crowther Hotcake? It goes from clean boost through transparent overdrive and all the way to distortion/fuzz. I really dig it. I usually set it somewhere between clean and transparent od.
