Klon

The "mini." ...the second version of the mini. :)
Cool... I've never played the "mini" version, but I did get the Wampler Tumnus "Deluxe" earlier this year. It's a real nice overdrive pedal, but unless I actually try a real Klon, I really haven't experienced the mystic Klon magic that only a few speak about. Next time I get invited to a local jamfest, I need to bring my 2 Klon clones and put them thru some real volume scenarios.

BTW... One of my great guitar heroes, Mr. Warren Haynes, is a heavy user of a real golden Klon Centaur. No matter what amp or combination of amps he's playing, that Klon is just about always on from what I heard.

KLON BREAKING NEWS!!!

I just ordered one of these kits:
BYOC has just released a new version of their discontinued Silver Pony. The new version is called... wait for it... uhm… the SILVER PONY II. This new version has an added independent (Clean) Boost circuit to go along with the Klon-style overdrive circuit. It also adds the option to switch to 3 different clipping stages. I'll leave the following link to explain it: Silver Pony 2

I ordered my SPII kit with the added option of a powder coated/screen printed enclosure, which added $20 to the kit. Grand total with the shipping was $117.

A couple BYOC website pics:

Assuming that I'll assemble this kit properly, I am hoping that this super version of the Silver Pony not only replicates the performance of the original SP, but that the extra circuitry really adds more tasty icing to the cake... :fingersx:.

Could this be the King-Klon Clone of Klons?

How is this project coming along?

The Klon is really expensive for sure.

Is that gonna get it's own thread with sound samples?
(I hope so...)

I had the EHX which was nice, but a bit meh at the same time as the drive control beyond halfway wasn't very nice sounding, imho.

If I got another (nearly bought the Archer silver a couple of times when it as on sale), I'd probably follow Goldmember and get the baby Wampler:

I never took photos of my real gold or silver Klon's they were gooped black RTV I was on a waiting list for them at that time they cost $230.00 each new.
My KTR red Klon was $270.00 new 6 month waiting list and it sounds good I thought the first issue Gold Klon was the best sounding.

Where you using a lot of the Gold's overdrive? And with which amp or amps?
Does this circuit prefer a certain style of amp?
