Zero

Well, I woodshedded all day yesterday and made some progress.
Also had some setbacks, but forged ahead and conquered this beast.
I had my heart set on a Bigsby.
In hindsight I should have gone with a B5 and been done with it.
But I went with a B3 instead to get the look of the B7 without the added length, as a B7 just wouldn't fit.
I cut the hinge off the Bigsby & rounded the bottom edge, then drilled 3 mounting holes right thru the face of that sucker then screwed it right to the body with
#6 screws.

I had previously mentioned setbacks...
One just bit me in the a$$ and it was a biggie. Very little break angle from the B3 to the bridge.
Strings would have been floppin' all over the place.
So I fabricated brackets and a roller consisting of an axle and an outer rolling sleeve to put some break angle over the bridge.

It worked... Perfect amount of break angle.

Must not have had the close up focus on, but you can see the results.
And look at those huge sparkles in the finish.
Pictures don't do this finish justice. In bright sunlight it's epic!

Another setback was trying to reinstall the pickguard after adding a push pull pot to flip the phase on the middle pickup.
These bodies are quite thin and the pickguard would not sit flush.
I did some careful measuring and set my router to shave a little wood from under where the pot sits.
It took three passes each shaving off a hair, but eventually made a recess deep enough to clear the pot, without blowing a hole thru the backside.
I could now breathe a sigh of relief, so I celebrated with a few well earned beers.

Now, the full monte.

very well done!!!!

Not really, but I saved a Zero.
Or did I?
Maybe it was safer before I took indecent liberties wit it.
Is it even safe now?

Oh look, squirrel...

I've made the appropriate changes to the lyrics for you. I've also added emphasis to the vocal timing with periods, in case you want to sing along... :)

Maybe ....someday, saved by zero
I'll put....one together
Stretched by Bigsby's....thoughts that....leave me
Chasing after.......12 Strings....disown me.....Floyd...Rose...Danger
Maybe I'll Sin (Bigsby zero)
Holding...onto....tones that teach me
I will...conquer.....guitars around me
So maybe I'll win (saved by zero)
Maybe I'll Sin (Bigsby zero)
Maybe I'll win (saved by zero)
Maybe use gold trim (Bigsby zero)
So maybe I'll Sin (Bigsby zero)
Maybe I'll win (saved by zero)
Maybe I'll Sin (Guitar Hero)
Who needs gold trim (Bigsby zero)
Saved by, saved by, save-saved by zero
Saved by, saved by, save-saved by zero
Saved by, saved by, save-saved by zero (Bigsby zero)
Saved by, saved by, save-saved by zero
Saved by, saved by, save-saved by zero
Saved by zero (saved by, saved by, saved-a-Bigsby zero)

That is just fantastic! I'm sure I could never pull that off, I don't have the patience to deal with the set back issues!

So...when I run into a major issue...can I mail you a guitar???
Thanks Chris, and by all means feel free to ship me your headaches. As long as they're not wiring issues. ( I hate wiring)

You don't realize but you were my inspiration for this project, finishwise.
That Strat body that you Krylon Glitter Bombed.
It inspired me when you did it. I just needed the right project to give it a try.
The recipe was Krylon Glitter Blast in silver flash, Krylon gloss black for the edge burst, and Krylon clear gloss for the topcoat.

That is some incredible work Hack! I shall raise my glass to you this evening! Well done!
The Bigsby is particularly cool! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Don, I enjoyed every bit of it.
There's a reason you never see a B3 or a B7 on a Firebird.
That angle cut really throw a wrench into the works for mounting a hinged Bigsby.

I refused to accept defeat.:dood:

Wow! I feel honored! Yours came out way better than mine...because my impatience got in the way and I tried to finish mine too fast.
The paint took weeks to cure because I sprayed to heavy and too soon between coats. I may to a Strat body in that paint, but take my time...

Dude, I just watched the stupid video while reading your lyrics, (much better than the originals) and drinking a beer.
I have to say, I was laughing.

Great rewrite Robert...
