QFTGary doesn’t get a lot of credit. He certainly had some inner demons he had to deal with. And ultimately I understand the band letting him go.
It’s also been suggested he wasn’t the most technically gifted ax slinger out there. Maybe.... maybe not. But from this REO fan. I can tell the records he’s played on and the guys that have come after. They may play the same notes but they don’t put the same heart and soul into it that Gary did. And I’ve never felt they were the same group post Gary.
Probably started my love of harmonic pick squeals!
