Your First Amp

It was a 60’s Symphonic. Eight inch speaker, not sure if it was tube or SS but I think tube because it took a while to warm up. It wasn’t very powerful because I always had the volume maxed. Pretty sure it was a widow maker with no isolation transformer because I remember getting shocked. My parents bought it for me along with a semi-hollow no name Japanese guitar. Wish I still had it. No idea what happened to it or the guitar.

Peavey Backstage 2, my son is currently using it.
I started late in life, at the end of 2014.
Something I always said I wanted to do, but life gets in the way.
Now I'm doing it, good, bad, and ugly.

Little MF kicks some serious ass for a small practice amp within the expectations for what is: 10w ss with a 6" speaker.

Gotta love it brother.
I know just how you feel

1963 Gibson Skylark.
I wish I still had that one.
Not really sure of the model but I played through a old Gibson amp, I didn’t know it at the time but, I am certain that it needed tubes and a check up, same with the fender amp, my buddy Sals dad let us play with them!
Cheers Mitch

Generally the answer is 'something crap with an 8" speaker' ...

First bass amp was a Peavey Microbass (teal stripe, bought new)
First guitar amp was a Roland Cube 30X (again, bought new)

First REAL amp was the Peavey 6534+, which I still own and use.

Mine was a 50’s era RCA tube PA amp. It had a dedicated instrument input and actually didn’t sound bad at all. My first dedicated guitar amp was a SS Peavey Bandit, and getting that amp was my first lesson in tube amps sounding better than SS. The Peavey was fine for what it was of course and I used it for years before switching to a Marshall.
