Just had a listen to new to me media, a deluxe edition of Fragile with two extra tracks America which I have heard, but not in forever and a rough mix of Roundabout. The rough mix has some gems with some not so much. The vocal mixes are quite different, plus other subtleties I likely missed. Very much worth a listen or purchase.

Saw the full band somewhere on the 90s. Civic center in Moline Illinois. Went with a friend and my oldest son. Concert was great. Almost no one there. Probably had room for 8-10 thousand. I doubt there was 5k. Felt bad for the band.

Then early 2000s saw them again at Chicago House of Blues. Seriously trimmed back band. Howe, Squire, Anderson. Keyboards was Rick Wakeman’s son. Don’t remember who the drummer was. Good show.

Love Yes.
Total jam band live.

I saw them on the Drama tour, 1980 in the round at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Memorizing show.

It was during the World Series; Geoff Downes was wearing a Phillies jersey and had a couple of Philly Phanatic plush dolls on his keyboard rig.

A game was being played at the time. I think it was Trevor Horn who announced the score at least at one point and may have informed us if we had won or not (CRS). How cool was all that?

The Phils won the series, first time since the early 60s.

Jon and Rick Wakeman walking around in Arroyo Grande (where Jon lives now...), they are wearing old Army fatigues pretending their not rock stars...and I'm the only one in town who knows who they are. It's funny, nobody recognizes them.
Jon calls me on the phone: "this is Jon Anderson..." he wants me to work on his foot pedal that he uses for a drum beat when he plays acoustic guitar.
And I totally missed it. It never dawned on me that It was the voice of Yes calling me on the phone...
"Jon Anderson," I totally blanked out and didn't realize who I was talking with.
Also funny.
Several days later, I realized who Jon Anderson actually was. I felt slightly stupid. Duh.
Oh well guess I'll see him around town sometime.
I want to talk him into working on some vocal tracks / new songs with me. Got some new projects in mind.

Fave album: Big Generator

Owner of a Lonely Heart is their crowning glory... How they were able to fuse their 70's prog sensibilities into a mid 80's pop hit is truly a thing of beauty. Also starting out with a dominant distorted power chord guitar riff was unexpected even for the genre but grabs the listener and ultimately serves a motif for the rest of the composition while they layer Wakeman's prog keys on top of it. They knew by 1983 nobody wants to hear a 5 min long keyboard solo and also the studio's wouldn't allow it. This pressure by 80's pop radio forced them to "tighten" their sound into one of the greatest classics ever made.
