WWWWWWOOOOWW!!!!!!!!!!

this is why I left Ohio -- its a great place to BE FROM---but I wouldnt wanna live there --especially if you have to WORK and COMMUTE--

I feel ya man. There literally is not enough money in the World to get me to go back to the DC area and deal with another Winter. The most valuable thing I have is my time and there is not enough of it left to ever deal with another snow flake. We're looking to move someplace even warmer in fact (Palm Springs).

I remember my Dad getting up at like 4 am. to FOLLOW THE PLOW TRUCK into town...HOPING the 2 lane COUNTY Rd to Canton had been cleared--so he could make the (on a clear day 45 min drive) to work..........in a time before cell phones--- weather reports on your dash radar---etc etc.
I am glad I was able to thank him before he passed for doing that -- so we could live in the PERFECT place to be a kid that we did --I went from PRE school to Graduating 12th grade in the same school---technically the same building-- it was a great time-----in a little farming town called Malvern Ohio -- that STILL looks the same today as it did then---I know I spy on it from time to time via google---The current Mayor was a classmate of mine--I dated his sister for a spell--- well TBTH I dated EVERYBODY's Sister at one point or another........but that is a different story ;)

However My Son graduated from KEY WEST HIGH --- so there is something to be said for MOVING lol !!!

So. Officially. Overnight Chicago set a record for a low temp for this day in November. Also set the record for a new lowest high for the day. Previous record was 28 degrees. Only made it to 17 today. Crazy stuff. I also believe we may have set a record for snow fall for the day.

Didn't you have Pong?

Didn't you have Pong?
We had Magnavox Odyssey around '76 or so--- but -- lets be honest it wasnt all that great -- and being children of that era -- we preferred riding bicycles around the basement --- kicking footballs through paneling--running up and down the stairs till parents SCREAMED to stop--- playing drums and guitars to deafen the neighbors and OTHER indoor winter activities --- pong---- was BORING

I telecommute. I work from home. But, the older I get, the less I can tolerate the cold. Does that mean I'll have to follow that unwritten law and eventually move to Florida?

Why not, everyone else has.
They're building 6000 new homes in my once quiet rural area.
On top of the thousands that have previously popped up in the last 30 years.
But the roads stay the same. It's madness.
Half mile backups at rural stop lights at certain times. Multiple light changes just to get thru.
School busses stopping at every subdivision. They should have to turn in off the main roads to load & unload.
Be a lot safer that way.
Ask Adrian about the parking lot they call I-4.
But we'll make room for ya' somewhere.

Once we both get retired here in the next few years, the pipe dream would be to retire in Hawaii. But realistically, that ain’t gonna happen.... so I guess next best would be to move to Florida and move in with Adrian. Help them raise their livestock. After all. We do hail from farm country.

Why not? Follow your dreams. My wife used to live in HI, and it's not as bad as you think provided you don't want to be right in Honolulu/Waikiki. Look into it - you only live once man.

Gball I grew up over there! Great place to grow up, went to Radford HS....
I still have our home over there and go back twice a year to spend some time...
There is hardly any humidity there, its as close to the Swamp as I will get..

Does your wife remember the pigeon english they use over there?
That was a hoot..
