What's on Your Workbench?

Funny this came up as just this past weekend I swapped pickups in the cheapy Donner H-H Tele I just got.
I had an unusually difficult time getting the screws started / wrestling the springs.
This was in a pick guard though, not mounting rings.

Yeah, mounting in a pickguard can be a real PITA!

I've pretty much decided against messing with the pickups. If it doesn't work as planned it may end up making it worse than it already is. I think I'm just going to sell them and buy a new double black set unless Wolfe can guaranty he can do actual cream coils for me after I explain my situation to him.

To age plastic or wood parts use Potassium Permanganate
Never heard of this stuff, and had to research it. And I must say: DANG! That’s some gnarly stuff!!

That’s a good call. But I’m still kind of baffled that the Wolfetone cream colored bobbins turned out too white for you. The Wolfetone website pics of the cream bobbins are very creamy.

On a side note, I like my Wolfetone pups a lot. Got a pair of their P90’s, Mean and Meaner. And two pairs of their humbuckers. Both pairs are the Dr Vintage and the Marshallhead… Good stuff!

I have a Meaner P90, killer pickup, but I like the SD custom P90 a little better.

Ok so I went ahead and put the bridge pickup in my Traditional to be sure I like it in this guitar as much as I like it in my Tribute. First off, I'm not sure if I ever said, it's a Wolfetone Fenris, just like the one I put in my Tribute. While I love it in my Tribute it sounded kind of muffled in here by comparison. So I swapped out the A2 magnet Wolfe sent me to turn it into a Timber Wolf and wow does it sound good now!

The cream color doesn't look so "off" in photos, but it real life it has sort of a green hue to it compared with all the other cream parts around it. Now that I know I like it in here I'm ready to talk to Wolfe about it. Or maybe I'll just leave it like it is, I don't know.
