I want cheap bass, Im not gonna groove or anything. I don’t even know how to play if. I just play guitar parts on bass lol

One Im thinking is JS concert bass blue burst one its about £350 ish here.

Solars are more expensive and I dont like logo inlay on it im OCD max. LoL

That makes sense. The inlay probably wouldn't match your top, anyway.

My kids are both grown and well past college. All of my cars and houses are paid off. It's all saving for retirement and disposable income at this point.

I'm just struggling with the thought of how much $10K really is in the realm of hobbies. Maybe I can get it for my retirement gift in 2026? I'm not very patient though...

Man, when I see what people shell out on golf club memberships or bicycles or watches I think its pretty easy to justify $10k or more on your hobby.

Don’t overlook LTD. They make some very nice basses at a reasonable price. One of my sons has one and it’s a really decent instrument,

Try to check out an SR305. I paid $250 for this one about 3 months ago:

The humbuckers are super fat and very easy to dial in a great metal bass tone.

Ibanez Basses are really nice Ramo.
I have played a couple and they sound really nice and thumpy.

Yeah, I had one my lovely wife got me for Christmas in 2018 or 19. Then when my brother died I inherited his 94 Ibanez 5-string and we needed some money, so I sold that the first SR305. Then, when I had some solid cash flow again, I bought this white one. Wouldn't have bought it twice if it wasn't nice.

The used beater Yamaha bass I got is fine for my beginner journey - $35. USD.
After a little elbow grease and a few other low dollar fixes (new strings, the pots I had on hand) it goes boom (clank, clank) boom every day for a half an hour or so after guitar.

The clank, clank part is my plucking and fretting.

Ok. All this talk of bass gave me Ibanez GAS.
I am adding an Ibanez bass to the very bottom of my wish list. Maybe a Standard SR370.
Something like this.

Bass all day. It's not even a question. You get a great tone with the pickups you already have. Not so easy to get bass tones from a Flying V 6 string though.

I had a GSR-200 for like ten years that I paid $100 brand new, with a hardshell case. Never did anything but slap strings on it, either. Was really amazed at how nice it played - wish I'd never gotten rid of it.

Not sure what that has to do with Yamaha basses... but, no one ever accused me of being the sharpest tool in the shed, either.
