What the heck is this ????

regardless of it's efficiency or acceptance, there is no denying that there is a finite source of oil for gas consumption. It's not unreasonable to look for alternatives. With our limited understanding of the Universe, electric is the main current alternative. Why there is such a stigma against it, is unreasonable. Sure, we can agree that it's not perfect in it's current form, but why such a hatred for anything other than burning oil is beyond my understanding.
Yep, there’s only so much oil on this third rock from the sun. We put the cart before the horse. Once we perfect fusion, we’re good for a billion years. Then we can have electric cars (or new tech) everywhere.

There is enough oil just in the United States to last at least 100 years and probably more. I believe by then, we will have found or perfected several alternatives. For now, fossil fuel is still our best source of energy.
That timeline is highly subjective to who you ask.

Some will argue that we wont be around to use all that oil if we keep using oil

With no way to know an exact timeline on anything in the universe should motivate us to continue to research answers to known and yet to be known problems that will guarantee our existence under any situation in the future. My engineering professor use to tell us that we don't have to know the answer to every problem, but we have to know how to find the answer to every problem.

Okay, based on that picture, the CyberTruck looks like it would fail the smitty test. It doesn't look like it could accommodate a 4x8 sheet of plywood laid flat in the vehicle.

But, maybe the idea is more of an El Camino-type vehicle.

So, "CyberCamino"?
The point of the Cybertruck is not to bring sheets of 4x8 to the construction site.
Just like a Ferrari is not geared towards grocery shopping with a baby

Oh, I'm not thinking of a construction site. I'm just thinking of my own projects!

Not practical for me...just like a Ferrari is not practical for me.

Yes, I know the point isn't practicality...but that's how I determine my interest in a vehicle.

I avoid 4x8 projets, but my Tacoma has a rear window that opens so that the 8 and 10 feet boards of pine and maple can fit through with a closed tailgate ang fibreglass box

well according to the scientific research paper I perused this morning, we only have 500 million years. I really have to get going on my to-do list.

Not certain that the stigma isn't reserved for the personality promoting and manufacturing the cyber truck, not the concept.

And its appearance of course.

This is ford's contribution to electric pickups...note the functionality in place of the "dig me."

FWIW, I drive a Prius. and have absolute contempt for the butthole who absconded with Nikola's family name....

You know, the jackass who's fortune came from daddy's exploitation of an indigenous population, who is polluting low earth orbit to bring internet to a war monger in the largest of eastern European countries, that invaded a neighbor...
