What the heck is this ????

I don't fault the thing for looking absolutely ridiculous. Besides the fact that it looks like it was a child's drawing come true, the issue I see is that the quality is below what you'd expect from a Yugoslavian (that's an older country no longer around kids) import, especially for a +$100k ride, it cannot function like a truck off road and has major issues with things like going through a carwash. The demos people put up online showing it's vast capabilities through off-road scenarios, show the thing crawling through mudpuddles that are 2 inches deep like they are rock crawling over 8' boulders. It's so insanely laughable that it boggles my mind how people can't be self aware of how poorly their decision to buy one is.

The best subReddit is the one that openly mocks these things.

Just a minor problem is that:
commercial electricity is 37% efficient. 63% of all electricity generated is lost and wasted.

b. more than 90% of all generated electricity comes from burning fossil fuels...

c. it's more efficient to put gas in the gas tank.

d. to accommodate a nation of electric cars, the electric grid will need to (at least) triple in size.

Just because you move the exhaust from the tailpipe to the power plant, does not mean you have created an emission free vehicle.
You got a long long way to go, before the promise of electric vehicles actually becomes true.

And lastly:
People who are pushing the electric vehicles
forgot that electricity is not 100% efficient.
All of these claims (environmental and otherwise) are based on the assumption that electricity has no losses.
This might be the biggest of all the problems electric vehicles face.
It simply doesn't add up.

You are correct. It will be at least 50 years before the world can accommodate electric vehicles and by then there will be more advanced technologies to power them. Here are some facts:Battery Manufactoring Process.jpg

Yes. This is the message that I try to convey about the ludicrous nature of our desire for going “green”. It actually ends up with large barren swaths of reddish grey…like really large…..completely barren. And yes, energy expenditure still surpasses any perceived benefit. It’s just not happening on our lawn…yet.

It is supposed to be bulletproof but there are a few problems with the glass breaking on impact.

I wonder if the electric car movement is a ploy to skyrocket electricity in the long run?

regardless of it's efficiency or acceptance, there is no denying that there is a finite source of oil for gas consumption. It's not unreasonable to look for alternatives. With our limited understanding of the Universe, electric is the main current alternative. Why there is such a stigma against it, is unreasonable. Sure, we can agree that it's not perfect in it's current form, but why such a hatred for anything other than burning oil is beyond my understanding.

So much hate for someone else’s truck. As for calling Elon a loser, you have to be a real loser to do that, He is the richest man on the planet ( on and off ) and above average intelligence.
WOW this sounds like a PRS thread on Strat Talk.
Sigh!

American's glorify stupidity. Elon = loser, Cartman = hero.

I saw that as more of a borderline political punch anyway and political thread prelude, personally. He likes to slip those in.
