All are fantastic ideas. I have to finish work on two guitars before I get to making a Jazz Master. The Les Paul Junior is a real roach. I need to do some wire work and a mini humbucker install. I am playing Friday and Saturday nights. I have to actually play a guitar to be ready. I hop the JM will be done when the ground is soft so I can bury my problems. Joke !!! I burn my problems.

I'm locked into the nasty looking gold pick guard. I never thought this would get down to the final days when I bought the thing.

Some thing very close to the color of the guitar but calm enough not to take away from the complete look of the guitar. I had the coolest wooden pick guard on a very bland Strat. I over heard some kids up close to the stage bitching about the fact they were distracted by the pick guard. They wanted to watch my left hand. I know what they meant because I try to do that when I am looking at a video. So wild and exciting is right out. This metal gold thing is prewired and I really hope not to get into that mess now. Plain and not distracting is my final answer. That pick guard lets me look at the hands.

Yes! That near perfect. I have some clear varnish and I was going to mix a bit of red wood to it.

A gray, very nice guitar you have.
This is my choice too! A medium stain and then multiple coats of tung oil.

You and Ray are on the same track. I do agree that with the nice grain of the body what you two gentlemen suggest is very much on target for this project. I hope to have photos for those who are interested early next week. Now if Pittsburgh has an ice storm all bets are off. The old stinker ( me ) gets the trauma duty. Doing what I love, re packing brains or working on my guitar?

We all know and I love black because it is slimming and easy to accessorize. I was ordering my Les Paul over the phone and the sales guy who said he was Tony but was not because Tony is nice to me. This guy was a real creap, went over all the Studios they had. I interrupted and said in my sweet child like voce, do you have that in black? He said come on Kev every one has a black guitar! Like I shouldn't! I'm not good enough to have a black guitar? I said this can't be the Tony that took over for Billy that got lost at sea? He said it is and I have a Honey Burst in Ohio just for you Kev .
I'll take that one. I looked and it was Tony because he knew he sold me 4 black guitars. I never told him about the others. He said to come and get it Monday from Frank! What I said and you will be! He interrupter and said I'll be lost at sea looking for Billy. So I have a Honey Burst and a black Les Paul from Japan and others black guitars. Turns out every one that I ask for needs to say off the water. All My sales guys drowned. Poop
