Session 5

Ambassador of Strings & Wings
Country flag
Well many of you here are aware of my hobbies, for those who don't my avatar say's I am Ambassador Of Strings and Wings . I am an avid R/C Pilot and Instructor, I have been involved with this hobby for the past 32 years, Its my #1 Passion.

And along with this I have been heavy into the camping life, started out with a tent, then moved up to a hardtop camper, then over the years purchased four travel trailers. Then bought a park model. I have been camping the past 30 years.

I have made many friends over the years in these two hobbies, and since I have been playing guitar for close to ten years now, I have even made more friends.

These hobbies have, and continue to keep me active and in the loop so to speak.

I raise trees. Collect seeds wherever I can and grow them. Then give the kids away when they're big enough. Ornamental and Small leaf (Japanese) Maples, Dogwood, Laburnum, Peach and Apple, Loquat (Biwa) ...

it requires time and the kind of focus that isn't demanding. Unlike my other hobby...
Cardiothroacic Surgery.
Really gotta pay attention to detail with that one.

Horology.

Rebuilt this 1909 International Time Recording Co clock.

I weave in and out of a lot of hobbies. Always been a collector ...watches, vinyl, Polo shirts, cowboy boots, old BMX type stuff, etc. Also, photography, computer programming, in the recent past motorcycles and leather work. Probably lots of stuff I'm not thinking of either.

Here's a nice shot of one of my favorite watches. I don't wear one much now but it gets most of the love for its great fit and traditional looks:

Not sure if joking. Could be the career!!
Kudos on the trees!

Mine is photography mainly. Been at it for nearly 40 years in some way. Landscapes, abstracts, people, light experiments etc.
I started down that road in 1968, with a camera my father gave to me. It has been quite a journey. Did a brief stint with photojournalism; small town weekly rag to a daily to the 72 Winter Olympics to ... that other party Asia was hosting. After that photojournalism and I parted company.

But the passion remained.

A job in a gallery dedicated to photography in the fine art, at a time when photography was having difficulty being accepted as a fine art, provided an introduction to some of those whose names became synonymous with elevating the medium. I was the gallery lacky...and the guy who picked the exhibitors up at the airport when they chose to attend their opening.

I met them all, became friends with many, and studied under several...with a couple on a long term engagement. I was a regular at the Yosemite Workshops as they were called in my day...I learned to print with the help of some extraordinary teachers.

I learned photoshop from a master as well. And while I would not want to do utilitarian photography any other way, much of the joy I derived was in the craft. Printing was where I was truly at home.

Now...I can't give my darkroom away. And I can't bring myself to trash it.

(BTW, No, my delving into cardiothroacic surgery is strictly a hobby. I did a brief stint in bio-medical photography and sorta picked up bits and pieces as I peered into an open chest. Got pretty good at it. Though I never did get to try it on a living person...one of these days!)
