What Hobbies Are You Involved With, Besides Guitar

I guess another would be some very amateur wine making. Nothing with grapes. But I did some cherry wine and some apple. Both turned out decent. Far from top shelf stuff, but definitely drinkable. Then tried my hand at some Mead. First try was a disaster. Second try was better but still was not very good. Rather than dump it again I bottled it and put it away…. For like 12-13 years. Opened a bottle and darn stuff was pretty good. Got both the aroma and taste of honey. Just had to age…… a very long time.

I have to goodies to make a peach wine. Gonna try that here this spring or summer.

So.... I followed thru on this threat. Started a batch of Peach Wine in August. Won't bore y'all with the process.... but a couple weeks ago I bottled it. Ended with four bottles and one that was a 1/2 bottle. We opened the 1/2 bottle last night. Pleasantly surprised for what in essence is still a "young" wine. It is in no way comparable to an expensive wine. But it was not bad either. Quite drinkable and actually paired up with the food we were having. The suggestion from those that sampled it was that it was a bit like a Chenin Blanc. I was pleased. I have more peaches in the freezer and thinking, gonna have to do this again.

Photo doesn't really show it as well.... but it cleared up quite nicely.

I raise trees. Collect seeds wherever I can and grow them. Then give the kids away when they're big enough. Ornamental and Small leaf (Japanese) Maples, Dogwood, Laburnum, Peach and Apple, Loquat (Biwa) ...

it requires time and the kind of focus that isn't demanding. Unlike my other hobby...
Cardiothroacic Surgery.
Really gotta pay attention to detail with that one.
Excuse me doctor, but I think the appendix is on the other side.

Of course I know it's on the other side! How do you expect me to work under these conditions?

Sailing, photography, and I guess cars.

These days sailing is mostly a summer/vacation activity.

Photography is a year round thing, and I’ve gone back to doing only analog film photography again. I also develop and print myself. @rolandson film has seen a resurgence lately, through the proper channels I’m sure you can get your darkroom to where it’s needed!

Cars… I still regret selling my 1970 Mustang, although it’s now 17 years ago. My daily driver is a 1994 Buick PA, and keeping up with maintenance is also sort of a hobby (or I wouldn’t have chosen a 30 year old car as a daily driver).

I’ve discovered that I’m pretty good at finding cheap cars that no one wants, fixing them up and selling them for a profit. I’m now thinking about seeing if I can work my way up to something like a 70’s or 80’s pickup truck by buying, fixing, and selling.
