What gear would you buy after winning tonight's Powerball?

I'd build a recording studio, and a new house to put it in. Then I'd buy all the guitars I ever wanted but couldn't afford.

I'd buy two Marshall half-stacks and two Fender amps.

I'd also buy the rest of the stuff I need to finish my Les Paul Studio project.

But...only after paying off my house and buying my wife's dream house. The rest gets invested.

As I said before, I've had everything I have ever wanted, except maybe something really silly like my childhood dream of owning a P-38 Lockheed Lightning or a Type VIIB U-Boat Replica, but I think getting everyone here together for dinner and a jam session, paying off a few mortgages and just helping out in general, would beat any product that I could purchase... :-)

I'd buy matching 3 knob SG partners for each of us before I jet off to Tuscany. :yesway:

Mine isn't for sale (though I would trust it to your care if need be). It is almost my whole musical identity!

Mdubya,,,,,,,,,,, it is hard to believe I actually came by mine almost quite unintentionally and even without realizing it was only a 3 knobber until I opened the box after winning it on ebay back in 2102 I think it was.

Now, I can't believe how many of us who do own one, think there is just sumn special about them that we make em our go to SG's. Kerry comes to immediate mind with his Ferrari red one.

I think aside from their unique appointments, they are just really solid, if unassuming, guitars.

At the time it was my regular gigging and songwriting guitar, my roommate had a late 70's Norlin SG Standard. It was a really great SG; all mahogany, very light, nice medium rounded neck, T-Tops (which the bozo removed and added a JB/Jazz SD combo  ) and our bandmate had a 1991 (same year as my 3 knob special) SG Standard, in ebony, just like my Special. The 1991's played and sounded almost identical. I believe his had the 498T/490R combo, whereas mine had 500T/496R pickups. The Norlin SG felt like a classic vintage SG. Our 1991's felt more substantial, more modern, but solid. Once I added the early 57 Classic + in the bridge of mine, it became a different guitar. Stunning tone, particularly for the time.

Mdub, you are saying yours is a '91, hmm I think Kerry's is too.
By our old ETSG resources "catalogs" and when I did a search I found someone say it was supposed to have "In 1987 they started to call them "1959 Les Paul Reissue" pickups on all SG models, except for Elite, which came equipped with "Spotlight" units.

Mine is an '87 but I got it with Bill Lawrence circuit board pickups.

I found that above info here.
What were the stock pickups on 1986 Gibson SG Standard?

I think I would just buy a guitar store and increase the FLIPPTASTIC ADVENTURE to nuclear Levels

It's not over, till it's over...
Chilipeppermaniac is going to look into marrying Ms Mavis Wanczyk...
Stay tuned...
