Mdub, you are saying yours is a '91, hmm I think Kerry's is too.
By our old ETSG resources "catalogs" and when I did a search I found someone say it was supposed to have "In 1987 they started to call them "1959 Les Paul Reissue" pickups on all SG models, except for Elite, which came equipped with "Spotlight" units.
Mine is an '87 but I got it with Bill Lawrence circuit board pickups.

What were the stock pickups on 1986 Gibson SG Standard?
Yep. 1991. Not sure how or where I figured out they were 500T/496R. I think I found specs in an ad from the time or something.
I went with a Duncan '59, first. Hate is a strong word, but I did NOT like it; bland, no character. The 57 Classics had just come out. I wanted vintage tones. Got the 57 + and the rest is history. Match made in heaven.
My hand was forced on the pickup swap when our bass player toppled over and into me, drunk, during a gig. I caught him and we both crashed into the maxi Marshall stack my buddy from the headline band, and I, created; Our 2 Marshall JCM 800 heads on top of his 412 and my 212. We knocked all of it over. And the impact took out the lead pickup in the black Special. Had to play the gig on my rhythm pickup. I was NOT happy. Nobody else noticed, but me.
Another kind of Spinal Tap moment happened when I was turned to our drummer, rocking out the rhythm to one of our song. Drummer was pounding away, but his whole kit, tapped down to a rug, was on the move. He didn't notice, and he and his kit went right over the falls, off the drum riser, mid song, mid gig. Good times.

Hmmm. Your own lab full of beepy things with spikey blips? Another PRS? A top end luthier shop? A trip to the space station? A hot air balloon (I am not sure why, but I think you would like this)?

Agreed. And when you have too much stuff that was hard to earn, you become fearful of losing it. Your attitude is a good one. It is best to endeavour to free yourself of the desire for "stuff". Nobody ever reached self-actualization in a retail store!

If you make enough, why would you want more?
If you get caught up on that merry-go-round you keep
saving until the money accumulation itself becomes the goal.
Once that happens you become unwilling to spend it.
If you won't spend it there is no point in having it.
I do enjoy spending money to acquire nice things. I love shopping and the excitement of finding those special things. It's just that over the past 7 years - during which time I found myself divorced & penniless after the real estate market crash of 2008 - I have found greater pleasure in doing for others. My desires these days are amazingly simple...

If I seriously won or even earned enough money to never have to worry about surviving one day or one week in advance before impending financial doom, I'd first get myself some health and dental insurance. I'd do likewise for my mom, dad, sis and her 2 kids to whatever point is needed for them to live as healthy a life as possible and never worry about affording to get medically treated any time they need it.
As for me, if I could buy a new pain free back, I would also go for that as my number 1 reality type purchase I cannot afford at the present time. To have a back that is pain free and able to stay strong enough to do all the physical work the rest of my life will require would be a priceless purchase if true 0 Pain is possible.

I'd be curious to have you run your 91 vs my 87 and see how your ears hear the differences. Then see how you think my Epi LP sounds now that I put the bone nut on it and the T Tops in.
